I'm very interested, though I'll have to wait another year and a half, to post there. I think it's a great idea.

I didn't read the thread thoroughly, but the concept of a prediagnostic era forum is interesting to me. I am especially
interested in shared common experiences and development of comorbidities. I am not for attaching an age limit though.
Different places and socioeconomic environments could now only be entering the 'help' phase. I think it should encompass
those who went through their formative years without being treated. I am not for an old fogey whoa is me rant session, either.
I would like somewhere to go where I can understand some of the things that went on in my past from someone's else perspective, and a place where I can bounce ideas and thoughts without having to get into the social graces of the more popular members. I think we should have some objective to the forum, not just an older person version of the forums already here. If this is what you are planning, you count me in. |

I definitely agree with you about not wanting an old fogey rant session! If I start going down that route I hope someone will put me out of my misery, hehe. I also agree about the social graces point.
I should point out that I didn't propose the new forum. Personally I'm quite happy with In Depth. I posted a link in case members here hadn't seen it and wanted to comment. |

Can I rant about being called an "old fogey"? 35 isn't old! And even if it is, mentally/emotionally I'm in (at most) my early 20's, so screw labels. I am all for a pre-diagnostic era forum though.

Cool usern, LovableNerd.
My social development is lagging quite a bit too most of the time. I got the double whammy of being AS and a guy . I did get the dreaded "Sir" thrown at me at the market a couple of days ago. That blow to my ego along with my not being to eat as freely as I once did, might finally be enough to convince me to grow up some. |

So is this a dead fish?
I thought it was a good idea. Is it just not necessary or feasible? Would it be better to take off-site, where
we could have more of a gated community?
There is probably much more diversity in people left untreated not to mention longer lived equals more life experiences.
Is this a potential problem area? Some people seem to be living relatively normal existences with families and careers, while others are struggling with acceptance and health issues. Would this dichotomy be ultimately divisive? |

I would imagine the majority of those who are getting along fine and achieving the "milestones" of life in a somewhat timely manner would not bother to frequent sites like this.

I'm not sure I have hit many of those milestones, but I have to agree with your statement. I find it difficult to relate to most folks here and only return after I get emails asking if I am "okay" because I haven't posted in a long while. I can't stand the relentless whining of the younger set and I don't see many folks post about things like having a family, living alone, going to work every day, etc. Most folks living somewhat normal lives are too busy to post frequently though that doesn't mean they aren't autistic.
