Craigslist is a free internet classified posting site. Out of curiosity's sake, I performed a search for the word "aspie" in the "personals" postings (I didn't specify M4W, W4M, etc.) for several major US cities. What I found was strange...
A bunch of postings for women, each featuring 2 photos of that woman, about 4-5 lines of text, and this sentence:
"I'm an Aspie so I'm a bit of a misunderstood handful in some rights but I'm also the most laid back, unique person to be in a relationship with if you don't make assumptions."
...
What are these? Where are they coming from? Is it a repost from some other personals site? I find it disconcerting that they're so generic-sounding and have such poor grammar.

Considering it was the exact same sentence, I would guess maybe a "bot", or maybe a scammer.

If I had seen those, I would have been suspicious.

I've seen warnings about Craigslist, so those may or may not be for real.

Why is craigslist so popular anyway? I don't even know anyone personally who goes near it...

It could be some PhD candidate in Psychology is looking for response rates, or types of responses, or whatever. Whenever strange things happen, I assume a strange person is behind them. And who stranger than a psychologist-in-training. Very Happy

My friend and I used to "plague" the women on Craigslist at night when he'd come over. It was like a hobby for us, haha.
Playing the PS2, waiting to hear "You got mail!".
99% of them are looking for a warm body. Some are just lonely single women, but most are bots that will send you links to their actual sites.
We started out with serious responses to their personal profiles, just to see if we'd get a response. (He was looking for a phone # and I was coaching him). After a few times of that and the same response over and over we started messing with them (because it didn't matter since they were mostly bots).
For instance, we would email them something retarded like "Hey Baby! How you like your eggs in the morning?" with a disclaimer of like "If your real, disregard the above statement and reply saying your real and we can talk". Nearly every time, we would get a generic response along the lines of, "Oh, I'm so glad you (saw my personal/were interested in me). You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find a sincere guy here. All I've been getting are half naked photos of dudes. Unfortunately, due to this I've decided to make a profile here <insert link> as its safer for me and I don't get bombarded with trashy guys. Check it out! If your interested, you can make an account <insert link here> and message me. I look forward to meeting with you! <3".

Basically, unless your looking for a warm body, I wouldn't touch Craigslist personals with a 10' pole.

I use it all the time to buy used stuff for prices way better than ebay and there's no shipping cost because it's local. It's also good for finding a place to stay.

sometimes I read the "missed connections" section because it's quite entertaining.

Here, here! I've found 3 roommates off craigslist (and none of them plundered me), a couple dates (not good ones, but dates none-the-less), a bicycle, an apartment, and a kitchen table. I agree with the "mixed connections" section being entertaining. I've also sold a dinette set and some fish on there.

The use of a generic message specifically addressed to aspies, and bad grammar, sounds like a scam engineered to take advantage of the potential vulnerability of the uninocculated aspie. I have run across bad grammar, and bad spelling too. I thought the language mistakes I've encountered might have been deliberately put in to make the foreign-ness of a scam artist more believable. These days I have nothing to do with dating sites, and I won't go anywhere near Craigslist. I can't take anyone seriously here either without having met in person.
