Me too. My first love was cats and other animals, a love I have kept to this day.

When I was 20, I got into the Olympic Games. I have been fascinated ever since.

My childhood obsession used to be construction toys.

It'd look real funny, this 36 year old Aspie playing with children's construction toys.

I've recently started being interested in ufos again. Something I was very obsessed with as a child.
Only this time I'm more interested in a particular type of ufo.

I've been obsessed with the older London (1954-2005) since I was 6.

I was absolutely obsessed with The Lion King when I was a child, too. I had it memorized and would repeat it on a regular basis and would watch it for hours and hours every day. I still watch it from time to time and enjoy it immensely. I love it just as much now as I did then. Sadly I no longer have it memorized.

I loved reading Goosebumps as a kid and had to have EVERY BOOK!!! A couple months ago I even started watching reruns of the show and searched the topic on Wikipedia to find out there were NEW BOOKS coming OUT!! Smile So today now at 22 I bought the 1st book of the series (they are up to 4 out of the 12 planned it's a 12 book story arc HOW EXCITING!!!!) I just finished it (It's shocking as a children's book the chapters are sometimes 1 page and it was only 135 pages which I knocked out in a day.) The 7th Harry Potter took me 18hours. Smile Anyway I'm shocked I stumbled upon enjoyment out of something from my childhood as an adult. I can't wait to buy 2-4 to get caught up and then 5-12 when they are released. Smile

I've done stuff like that in the past... the only thing I can think of off the top of my head was when, a couple years ago, I somehow rediscovered this TV show I watched to when I was 8, and all of a sudden I was scouring the internet for fansites, fanfiction, and ANY EPISODE I COULD GET MY HANDS ON. XD I became far more interested in it then than I EVER had as a little kid, but the obsession didn't last.

For the most part, this doesn't really happen to me because if I'm ever interested enough in something to call it an "obsession", I tend not to lose interest in it, even when I gain new ones. I predict that by the time I'm thirty I will have too many obsessions to function. XD

I am 44 and you have no idea what you are in for...I never lose interests, I just add more or expand on them. If I could actually retain the information, I would be a genius but my brain got full and now I am just...confused.

I still keep pumping new data in, but I don't think much sticks. I need a purgatory for information overload....so I can go back for seconds. From 5-22 years old, I wondered if I was an alien "plant", just sent to earth to gather information and relay it home They must have taken a wrong turn in the solar system and have not yet returned.... Crying or Very sad Or...maybe they are abducting me and stealing the information while I sleep...dastardly deeds indeed. <----joking, I'm not really schizophrenic but I can see how some of our aspie ancestors may have been labeled that way because they were trying to make SOME sense of why we have such strong love of information.

^ Hi Christina. I'm a Christina too Smile

I've had a few obsessions from childhood that I've reconnected with over the past few years. I don't think it's that they ever went away, rather I've a little more time now to enjoy (is that the right word? Indulge?) them now I no longer work full-time. I use them as subjects for crafts now and crafting has become a new obsession in itself. Combining obsessions - Aspie heaven, lol.
