For me, it's not finding someone that's difficult, it's finding someone I can connect to, who has similar interests and beliefs.

I am not in the best geographical location for that, however.

Same here. Nobody in my area seems to be into anything more sophisticated than sports, and I couldn't care less about what this team or that scored. However, not even a relocation would help much in my case, because very few women in general share my interests. Hell, not many people on WP like the things I like...

Very few women on WP have my interests, too (animated sitcoms, anything indie). Plus I am liberal, and I live in the second most conservative state in the country (only Utah is more conservative than Texas).

Yeah, that must suck... I feel your pain. It's one of the reasons why I'm not real encouraged to get out much. And with the way elections tend to go where I live, I often wonder if my vote ever gets counted. Laughing

I gave up on trying to find girls with similar interests (Frank Zappa, Spaghetti Westerns, and FOOOOOD) a long time ago.

Ironically enough, Cyberman, I find trouble because I'm pretty conservative in my political views. I wouldn't say libertarian, but I definitely lean that way in many regards. I live in Virginia, but particularly Virginia Beach. I don't mind talking to anyone of ANY political persuasion--I don't hate liberals, if anything I'm interested in what they have to say--as long as they know what they're talking about, it's cool. Here, it's hard to find anyone that fits that bill.

Oh, nerdy genius NEVER goes out of style with this girl. I've found though, that many nerdy geniuses tend to dig girls who are really into the counter culture stuff. I'm not. I find that I draw enough attention to myself without going out there and begging for more (i.e. getting a ton of tats or dressing in a certain way).

Really? I tend to dig whoever can dig me. The only exception to that is when a woman is "digging" me but obviously doesnt like me and is only trying to hand over "tool" status to me...

You know, I never really thought about it, but food is probably my biggest obsession. I read cookbooks like they're stories. When I go to a really good grocery store, I get giddy. I look at pictures in magazines about food, and I'm always coming up with new ways to prepare things. I enjoy eating the food too, but the obsession goes beyond just eating. huh

Maybe you should take a cooking class. Then, you could meet other foodies.

I didn't mean to offend anyone with that btw, I know that women are very quick to write guys off based on height alone, even if they are short themselves.

There's NOTHING offensive in what you stated, you were just being honest and saying the truth.

I can! I can! I was always the shortest boy in school. I am just 164 cm (~5.4 feet) and slim....but still I'd not f***ing kill myself because of some girls rejected me because I am not tall enough for them. When you are born with a negative genetic trait you just have to accept it and live with it.`

Short is NOT a negative trait. Slim is definitely not a negative trait. However, fat IS definitely a negative trait. I'd rather be short than fat any day. Heck, I'd rather be a dwarf than have AS like I do.

True, but what I mean by negative/positive is what the most people think about it , the same trait can have its cons and its pros like shortness for example(and yeah even dwarfism and AS) but we are in Love and Dating forum here. In romance, shortness was never a helpful trait for male in dating since 90% won't date someone shorter than them and due to this fact you even hesitate to approach any girl taller than you since you would a very little change to be accepted so it's a negative trait like fatness for women (and probably for men too) but you can lose weight while you can can't height so you just have to live with it.

^^ see what I mean nw4

My comment on this song: I didn't believe what I was hearing , I never knew of this oldie song and can't believe it that it was even a hit. If this song was about fat women or jews or arabs or blacks there would be a world waves of criticism and demonstrations against it even back in its time but it seems , as usual, insulting short people was and still one of the few widely socially acceptable discriminations in world and that what angers me about it.

^^ hmmm I reacted before listening the middle of the song, after I listened to the whole song and read its lyrics I don't think it was meant to be insulting, it's sarcasm.

I realized once I listened to this part well:

Short People are just the same
As you and I
(A Fool Such As I)
All men are brothers
Until the day they die
(It's A Wonderful World)

the rest is very offensive if it's just taken it separately but I think this small part is the heart of the message, the singer is in fact mocking on people who prejudice against other people based on body type.

This song is not supposed to be taken literally and it's a vehicle to express that all prejudice is idiotic. However, I can imagine that it ends up getting used as a way for people to air their prejudices ...like some comments I read on the net about it.
