Anyone knowledgeable in this can tell me whether Safari 3.1.2 generally runs faster than Firefox 3.0?
Because on my computer, I just installed Safari and Safari tends to be a little faster than Firefox I think. A friend who actually owns a Mac claimed their Safari is way faster than Firefox. _________________ The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it. Did Mac just release a new Safari? Because Firefox 2 is faster than the version of Safari I have, and Camino faster than that. Firefox 3 leaves Safari in the dust, unless I missed a Safari update somewhere. _________________ WAR IS PEACE

Safari runs SUPER fast on a Mac. Not sure about the PC.
I use Firefox 3 though because of the plugins. |

| If you want really bleeding edge, you can download the beta versions of Webkit, which is the generic non-branded version of safari, and is basically safari in development including all the performance enhancements that haven't been released in safari yet. |

I just don't get Safari. It looks like a aquaified version of Firefox without the extensions and even half the built-in features. Its rendering engine isn't compatible with anything, and I dislike how Apple is forcing it on Windows users. On the Mac, I suppose it would have the benefit of better integration, but I just don't see a point of it in the Windows world unless your an aspie bored of the other browsers. I'd give it a try, if only for that reason, but the font is so hideous that it hurts my eyes. Why must they use such horrible filtering on Windows when Windows has the much superior ClearType built-in?
With regards to speed, I haven't noticed any big difference. Both browsers run fine on my system, but then, I have a pretty high-end machine. |

| Safari is Apples sorry attempt to make a Web Browser after Microsoft stop making Internet Explorer for the mac. I'll go with Firefox because its better, has a better bookmarks engine, is open-source, and can run on any platform. Plus its faster. |
