I can't stand other people touching me. It freaks me out. Especially my torso, even more so my back. If someone walks too close to my back I flinch too. I jump like a jack in the box when i get a hair cut. Any one else like that?

Oh and when i sit on the sofa with other people i hate it if their shoe touches mine. I can get angry about it sometimes.

Relationships are impossible for me as a result.

I don't like to be touched either - it makes me uncomfortable, although to keep the peace with my family I've learned to (mostly) deal with it.

If I'm in control of the situation, however, touching can be OK.

Just FYI, the movie Lars and the Real Girl had some interesting scenes about touch sensitivity. It was a bit of a difficult movie for me to watch (hit kind of close to home in some ways), but it is a good movie.

I can't stand to have people touch me. i can barely tolerate handshakes. but what i hate is people that seem programmed to keep touching you as they speak to you. slapping your shoulders and poking you etc. I have to pretty much chew them out to make them stop.

if I get touched enough I will go into a meltdown and sometimes I've even hurt people that refused to stop touching me. It really drives me over the deep end.

The following is a good book that discusses different kinds of sensitivity, and what can be done about it.

Sharon Heller, Too Loud, Too Bright, Too Fast, Too Tight: What to Do If You Are Sensory Defensive in an Overstimulating World

I don't like being touch that much either. The biggest problem with me and touching is that I'm very ticklish and it's embarrassing.

I don't like when people I don't know well touch me, or when I'm touched while not beeing prepared for it. On the other hand, I don't mind beeing touched by family or friends when I'm prepared for it.

Being prepared for it is one thing but being touched for no good reason and unexpectedly really messes with me.

A touchy subject topic

Despise light touch by humans or any thing else. I do not mind blood pressure cuff's feeling.

I do not like tight hugs in general, but I will tolerate hugs from my three kids, light or not. Very Happy

I can deal with people I like/know touching me. Even if I'm not prepared for it. I do sometimes flinch, though, or jump. However, if I don't know you, I can NOT deal with it. I have to take the bus to get almost anywhere, and it's just awful.. I had an older man pretty much leaning on me, and I almost had a panic attack. I was shaking, and I almost cried. He saw me scoot closer to the wall every time he got closer(like when the bus turned), and he still didn't do anything about it!! I had no idea how to go about asking him to stop. No one on the bus asks anyone else to stop touching them..

I don't mind casual touching by people I know and like, although I am often not touched by others. My daughter and others have said that I give off "don't touch me" vibes with my body language, but I don't see it myself. I don't care to be touched for very long - too much cuddling and all clinging is unpleasant for me - but I do enjoy massage. It helps with my migranes.
