I am curious to see if there is a trend with us apsies, after a few votes on the poll I will post my most recent story....
Edit:
If more than one thing applies to you, please answer in the poll what you feel the issue at hand is and post that which applies

This definitely applies to me. I used to deliver pizza, it was a nice job, 0 stress and I felt comfortable with everyone on the workplace..then at the end of january I get a call from a place I had sent the resume to...and I accept the new job...WHAT A MISTAKE . This new job is: answering phone calls to make bus reservations and related info + keeping contacts via mail to develop a new website for airport transfers + various stuff at the computer. All this for 7 consecutive hours a day and, most important, with the boss in the room next to me to control everything. Simply put, WAY too much stress, I tried to adjust the best that I could but it was killing me and in fact two days ago I left... now I have to find something else...
Edit: my answer to the poll would be "quit" AND "meltdown(s)" _________________ "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." (Dr. Seuss) |

I've not yet had this happen. HOWEVER
I was a bit reluctant to cast my vote for the simple reason that I've yet to have a job.
I do have an idea about how to prevent this. The above in mind, I'm aware this might be unrealistic, but I'll just put it out there anyways.
Do good enough in your job via hyperfocusing so that you can either get promoted, OR
keep your references and want ads handy so you can transfer to another job of similiar different environment to avoid monotoniousness.
As jumpers from job to job (within the same field) are in favor these days. |

So far, after a few months in each job, something starts bothering me so much that I start hating my job and eventually quit.
A few years ago I worked in a very good company, doing a very undemanding job. I kept taking on extra work, both for the challenge and for money, but nothing seemed to be demanding enough for me and the working hours started burning me out after a while. So I quit.
The next job I got was very demanding for the first couple of months. After that it started getting boring and undemanding. I kept asking for more demanding things to do and kept hearing promises, but nothing changed. I also had to go so far to work that I had practically no spare time, so this became too stressful in the long term. I quit and decided to try to find a job where I'd actually need my brain.
I got myself another job that sounded very promising, but reality was different. I was constantly given very unclear orders, asked to do something completely different than I had been expecting and there was never any training or real instructions regarding anything in that company, so half the time I barely knew what I was supposed to do. There were aspects of my job that were very clear and I mastered them very fast and became bored with them quite soon. I always hated the unclear parts. And the main purpose of my job was never achieved because my boss couldn't let go of most of the tasks and projects I was meant to take over. I ended up quitting this job too.
Then I got my current job. It's been a bit more than a year now. I still like the job itself and my boss has added challenging things for me to do, so at least this is not an undemanding job. I am frustrated with the working environment though and sometimes feel too worn out from it. I think I'll keep this job for longer than any other job I've previously had, but I can't help but wonder when I get fed up with this one too, like every other job/work place I've had. |

Never fired, but two job I was assigned other duties after a meltdown... and a meltdown/bipolar mania episode caused me to just simply quit two others... just my bipolar almost cost me the job I have now... sucks... _________________ Strange mix of bird/Sonic obsession... I like the Flickies! |

| Generally I last 4 years before I get bored. But I've been at this job for 9+, so I must be improving. |
