It's 1:00 AM where I'm posting now, so sorry if this is short.

Basically I have a job selling knives. however, I need contacts of people who are married, 30-60 years old and have cars. Actually at least 1 of them. The thing is, I only have 17 contacts on my cell phone. Exhausted all them or most of them. Plan to go to neighbors and ask them for into and the like

basically I'm asking for help for the contactd.

I live in the Beverly Neighborhood of Chicago, so you can include Morgan Park and Mt. Greenwood as well and add them in and other nearby areas; and suburbs and Washington Heights, etc. Probably Riding a bike but might drive as well. ANYONE who fits some of these works, I get paid to SHOW the merchandise to them so it doesn't matter if they don't buy. And they might get a smaller set anyway.

Any Cutco/Vector Marketing people?

If you guys had other info and tips, post them. Yeah it was probably a bad idea for this but I have 3 yrs Debate Team Experience so not so bad. But meeting new people and 'building rapport' is. Especially given the difference in background probably. Well likely not. Sry.

Cold call sales is not an ideal aspie job.

yes, I would find that impossible.

But if you can make cold calls, you can buy lists from marketing companies. I looked into it for a company I used to work for. Basic lists (not specialised database) cost a few cents per name plus a "flagfall" fee. Guessing, but $250 may get you a list of 1,000

In Australia you can get copies of the electoral roles. Where there are 2 people of the same surname at the same address, you could probably assume they are married and most would be over 30 and I would guess nearly everyone owns a car Confused I would think its cost effective to buy a list. Its a "numbers game".

For every 100 people you call, you will get "x" number of showings, say 5%. For every showing, you will get "y" number of sales, say 50% (but that doesn't matter if you get paid to show, not sell).

So for every cold 20 calls, say - you will get 19 refusals and 1 "show". Salesmen tell themselves that each call they make that is unsuccessful is one closer to getting to the successful call. But as I said, its something I know I couldn't do.

If I had to get "showings" I think I may try dropping junk mail in letterboxes to try to get people to call me (but you won't be able to pre-qualify age/car owners). But don't expect any better than a 1% or 2% response.

IMHO you should guestimate how much time and how many calls its going to take you to get each showing. Subtract from how much they pay you your costs (phone calls, purchased lists, printing fliers etc) and get a guestimate of an hourly rate. I bet it is not a good rate of pay.

Say it takes an hour to make 20 phone calls to get 1 showing and including travel takes another hour to perform. Cost of phone calls say $4. Your pay for a showing less $4 less travel costs - divide by 2 hours = your hourly rate of pay.

lol I know. I'm experiencing that now as I only have 17 contacts in my cell phone and it felt as everyone else at the training seminars had at least 50, likely 100 or so.

Actually I'm scheduling appointments that I can meet them later and begin the presentation.

I don't want to work in some place like Target or something where I have to deal with a bunch of rules and other stuff like standing excessively or dealing with bosses excessively, etc; the local (small business) comp stores aren't hiring and this job was literally thrown at me (well, the offer. I had it thrown at me by either my mom or grandmother, after it was mailed to my house.). As it was mailed at me and I didn't get anything else in job offers, I well took it.

I would mention that they don't have to buy anything, that I Get paid just to show them the cutlery, and (possibly; I heard this tip from others) to mention I'm trying to go to College and this would help me. That would increase it somewhat. However, thanks for the info.

In my opinion, they are more of a scam then a legit job. I tried it once myself. Basically, they make money selling demo knives to would be salesmen.

For me, sales and fast food are totally horrible.

Do you know of any good factory jobs in PA, MD, WV or VA?

Seriously I did that for a month selling knives. I secure deposit loaned the knives. Had customers sold to them. They got me some friends. The friends gave me fake numbers of people and cutco was very hostile on returning my money for the knife display set.
Stay-away from cutco.
