Skafather, would you be Christian if you weren't gay? I mean, is your anti-Christian rhetoric based solely on the fact of your "unpopular" sexuality?
Would I be a Christian if I were a homosexual? I don't know that I would. |

i'm not gay. despite your cynical beliefs, there are people who stand behind something because it's right...not just because it benefits them. |

you always make the most assumptions about people. you're getting high and mighty on me right after making an assumption about my sexuality? you might want to rethink your approach...you come off as either very naive and base or as extremely cynical of everyone around you and that their motives are only on the most base selfish level. |

Okay, I assumed you would be gay by the comments you were making, but I didn't mean that as a slight or an insult. Why do you say my beliefs are cynical? I'm not totally against gays. Call me a homophobe if you life but I've never beat up or harrassed a gay individual.
My feelings about gays and gay marriage isn't black & white. To be honest, I'm conflicted about the whole thing. To me, this is not an easy issue with easy answers. No, you never did self-identify as gay. But you didn't identify as straight, either. So I guess thsat's where I got confused.
Why are you sympathetic to the gay cause if not for personal reasons? |

My answer, FWIW, is simply because I consider baseless discrimination of any kind to be uncivilised, and something that society really needs to outgrow. At the time, every extension of human rights gets protested vigorously and over time, people come to regard the traditional way as an embarrasing relic of our history. |

| Some relics are less embarrassing than others. Not every relic should go to the trash bin. |

| i'm sympathetic because unlike the christians, i do actually love my brothers and sisters in humanity and i think it's disgusting that people aren't granted equal rights because some are still stuck in such a primal way of thinking that they can't comprehend that gay people aren't a threat rather less that most of them are fairly normal people and, on average, cleaner people than most straight people. |

because you ask:
| slowmutant wrote: | | Why are you sympathetic to the gay cause if not for personal reasons? |
and that's a very cynical view of the world that no one can do something simply because they believe it's right but rather just because it benefits them. |

| You can do the holier-than-thou thing if it suits you, skafather. I find it tacky. |
