"We"? I was an innocent bystander!
I admit, it would be fair to say that you obliterated that stain. And since cleanliness is next to godliness, this must be a good thing. But before we ask people to judge whether your effort was extreme, I think we have to show not only the "after" picture, but for comparison also "before":
Geology is only physics slowed down with trees stuck on top, but with a little effort, both can be remedied, and it is possible, after all, to live in interesting times.

Welcome Butterflair. I like your name. It feels really good to me.
I have often wondered how much my absorption to particular sounding words is an indication of a little synesthesia sneaking into my Aspie noggin.
Like the others, I ask you to please not take our reticence for unfriendliness. Like others, I read a lot more than I post. I'm sure I will read all that you might want to say and I will read it with the pleasure of discovery!

Do not give her a chemistry set. Even more important, politely turn down any offers from Chuck to babysit her. He doesn't need a chemistry set. Here is a picture of the last place where Chuck babysat:
Now remember, Chuck is a very good teacher...
(I am not allowed to show pictures of my last babysitting. They are still classified, and will remain so until they find out what happened. Last I remember is the kid asking "What happens if I do this?") |
Ahh Chuck so that is what you do in your spare time .....We should get together sometime....
I like a project with a bit of bang to it.

From your photo I can see that I could have used your expertise many times. It looks like you even know what you are doing! I always just guessed, seat-of-my-pants-ed it, picked wire 'red' in a lurch, and used a lot of duct tape. Duct tape, yesiree. Can't be beat.

I think I may have to break down and buy a digital camera. I tried taking pictures of my silver artwork with a film camera, and most did not turn out. At least with a digital camera I would know immediately that my photography was a debacle.
Taking pictures of this medium is like trying to take pictures of a mirror.
Anyhoo, here are some of the things I have been working on:
...woman, face in hands:
...same picture, closeup...
I never know when to stop drawing, but I sorta kinda like the way this looks at this stage, so I may stop here?
In my mind I can see her hair, her shoulders, the freckles on her arms, her clavicles... ...so... ...where to stop?

This is a caricature I did of my friend Jenny, a co-pharmacist who decided she had had enough a week ago and quit to go back to school to do anything besides pharmacy. Jenny stood 5 feet tall, and had long hair, so I drew her as a merlobstermaid (a mermaid with a lobster tail - don't ask me why. Her hair is entwined with shells, starfish, octopii, fish, flowers, coral, and anything else I could think of. I braided her hair, then fractaled it, then whipped it around, then turned it into fish spiraling into infinity. Jenny and her husband moved to Illinois, so I'm mailing the finished piece to them tomorrow. I'm sure she's going to wonder "What the...?!" Oh, well. You can't erase or change a thing, so she's stuck with it.
I'll try to post a framed and completed picture of this tomorrow. That's one of the photos that "didn't take". (Bad cameraman.) |

I watched the film WALL.E with my sister yesterday and heartily recommend seeing it! (...a cartoon depiction of Aspie love?) The animation is wonderful. And the "futuristic" view of humans made me laugh out loud (...too closely representing many of my "present day" patients, perhaps? ). Loved WALL.E and Eve. I give it:

we saw WALL-E over the weekend. it's cute. the cockroach steals the show, though.
it's kinda like two movies - the first bit just entranced me. once they got on the ship, it got predictable and a little preachy.
but it is a fun little pixar creation, and i've always had a soft spot for pixar.
on the camera side, kid got a Fujifilm finepix j10 for about $100. that's the one that took the vacation shots. it's quite a nice little camera, you might investigate it. has settings for taking shots of text and all sorts of other adapters.
nice artwork, chuck. _________________ Novinson's Revolutionary Discovery: When comes the revolution, things will be different - not better, just different. |

Thank you!
...and thank you for the camera info - i will definitely check it out when I finally get a day off 8 days from now...
I took 72 more pictures... ...and 4 turned out. It's probably just me. I guess I won't be showing my artwork until I get a new camera (or better picture-taking skills). Anyhoo, here are the 4 that worked:

...I tried, but again, it is like scanning a mirror. Here is the result:
Oh well. Now I understand why Renaissance artists switched to graphite pencils - made it easier for them to film and Xerox their artwork.
Still, I enjoy the difficulty of dealing with this medium. Because silver cannot be erased, I have to just accept having my errors show in the work. I find the tarnishing and warming of the silver over time (and having to just accept whatever effect that has on the final results) interesting. Wanting artwork that would last as long as Leonardo's has was the rationale I had in using the same materials he used. So.... I accept the "good" with the "bad". Once I get a digital camera I will know immediately if the picture was successful or not, and then I will be able to work in this realm more easily. |

Hi ButterFlair! You will enjoy yourself here. Ask any questions you like - I've asked quite a few.
I presume you're NT. I'm NT too, and I have been here for over a year because my grandsons are aspie.
It's sane around here ...most of the time. _________________ NEVER EVER GIVE UP
