Laughing Long story short, one of my coworkers pretty much asked me if I was on some sort of "social pills". If such a pill existed, would you take them?

Probably not. I am borderline AS/NT as it is.

Probably not, either.

I think I would.

I have quite a lack of social skills, as pointed out by people and noted myself but I don't see these as being central to my personality so I don't think suddenly having them would alter my personalities core. I guess the fallout from being more confident and sociable might significantly alter it though so maybe I would have to consider this in more depth.

Yall know we're talking hypothetically so....

I definately would take them because it would make me seem more intelligent and likeable & gain more respect. Which would boost up my confidence. It would be a huge relief if I could be able to hold conversations.

For the people that wouldn't take it I don't understand. When people have cold's or the flu they take medicine for it. When people have asthma they use bronchodilators. When people bleed they use a bandage. I don't understand why you wouldn't you help yourself when something is not right.

I might test it to see how it would feel. I doubt I'd want to be on them all the time though, but they might come in handy occasionally.

Yeah, I agree. I might want to have the pills for when I really need them, but I wouldn't want to be under their influence most of the time.

Such a pill does exist. Its called MDMA or ecstacy. It will, at least for a few hours, turn an aspie into an NT. It works by stimulating the amygdala which is the part of the aspie brain that is below par as compared to NT's. The problem is that its illegal in the US and it can't be taken on a regular basis.

There is also oxytocin or pitocin which helps aspies develop relationships. Pit can be taken long term.

I would love to get my hands on some MDMA. If a more long term solution existed, I would take it in a heartbeat.

Ecstasy is great for being able to socialize, but the comedown is killer. Plus after about your 6th time it just doesn't do anything anymore.

It's absolutely nothing like weed.

It's like if you've never, ever connected with another person before in your life, never wanted to hug anyone before, never wanted to be friends with anyone before, and suddenly, you discover.... EMPATHY! You LOVE everyone, you want to HUG everyone, and when you do hug people, it feels WONDERFUL!!!

Then 2 days later you cry a lot and want to kill yourself.
