westernwild,

Every story has at least two sides and some people are more suitable for eachother than others.

I'm sorry that chesapeaker got what I believe to be the wrong impression of Aspies but I'm glad that she feels happy with her life now. I don't think she was likely to change her feelings about aspies, so WP was obviously not the right place for her. She's better off without our negative comments and, I suspect, we're all probably better off without her negativity here too.

Obviously you're more suited to your husband than chesapeaker was and that's good too. It means that you're all where you belong.

Indeed everything has 2 sides (often even more though but that's besides the point)
And as the saying goes: "You never get a second chance for a first impression"
So it is most unfortunate if you get the wrong picture of someone (one can then ask if it is possible to get an accurate full picture of someone)
But I'm thinking WP is a good place for me.
At least enough reading material to keep me occupied for quite a while Wink

Since I joined of Febuary 2008, I've noticed many members missing in action. I've also noticed that the environment of posts change slowly from time to time. I can't help but notice that the ones who influence some of the changes in the forums are new.

Likely as people evolve and get their needs fulfilled they will come and go... I found the site a few weeks / months ago... But I am so anti-focused that I only registered today. Fortunately I can keep dozens of tabs open in firefox or opera and emulate a multitasking environment.

My question is, for people who have been here for a real long time, are there still any gaping questions that have yet to be unanswered?

Welcome TortuousCreativity.

Everyone is different and there are aspies from all walks of life here. There's no obvious giant gaps but what is interesting is that whenever something new is thrown into the mix, we all discover different but similar permuations in our own lives.

In that sense, we're constantly growing in knowledge about Aspergers.

I joined a long time ago, I think there were a little over 1000 members when I did. I went on a long hiatus before we even reached 2000, and came back to what it is now. This place seems just so different to me. And it seems like all my favorite people have left, it's still an interesting place from time to time.

So the last post was June 21, does that mean people are on summer vacation? God, this is only my second post--I can't find the first one, it was it response to the asperger boy getting the reality show treatment from his kindergarten teacher--and already I'm feeling socially awkward. Right now, I feel like in my mind I'm in control, but what I'm typing doesn't clearly demonstrate that. So hopefully I'll get out of myself enough to be able to react to what's going on here.
One thing I find interesting is the guy who posted from Norway with the Dumb and Dumber Castro/Che avatar. Does this mean he thinks dubya's a genius? I lean about as far left as liberal/socialist and probably no further, but dude, dubya's bad for the planet, would you want him running your country? Hopefully I'm just jumping to conclusions as far as your personal political leanings go.
To focus on the positives, it's great that wrongplanet exists. I'm seeking an asperger's diagnosis and my ten-year-old daughter has had one since she was four. To sign up here after learning so much about how ASD has affected our, and our family's, lives causes me to feel as if the learning curve just got steeper again...but in a really good way.

Cheers! Cool

Welcome, and don't fear the curve - we're all on it, so it's not so bad that way. The best way I've seen here is to just get involved and start talking, even if there isn't a reponse... you don't catch a fish on the first cast. Look forward to hearing more about you and your experiences.

You're exactly correct! And I really do feel like we're all where we belong, too, where we should have been in the first place. Ah, well, going through the rough and lonely times just makes you appreciate being in the right place all the more.

I think people married to or involved with aspies tend to lay the blame for all or most of the problems in the relationship on the AS, when, in reality, they're responsible for some of it, too. I get really tired of the "martyr" complex so many of them develop, like those with FAAAS. They also have no clue what it is like to be AS/ASD, or learning disabled with AS overlapping tendencies. Sometimes it's really exhausting just making it through the day, and then to have to hear about all the things you say and do wrong or don't say and do at home is just too much.

I think it's great that kids with Aspergers can find out right away what's going on with them and that they're not alone. Way to go, Wrong Planet, for all your support!
