Summary: On his nationally syndicated radio show, Michael Savage claimed that autism is "[a] fraud, a racket. ... I'll tell you what autism is. In 99 percent of the cases, it's a brat who hasn't been told to cut the act out. That's what autism is. What do you mean they scream and they're silent? They don't have a father around to tell them, 'Don't act like a moron. You'll get nowhere in life. Stop acting like a putz. Straighten up. Act like a man. Don't sit there crying and screaming, idiot.'

go read the whole thing.

My oldest son had early onset bi polar disorder and I cant tell you how many people in the general public and even people in the medical communty who would tell me that it was because I spoiled him. Autism does not have a "look" so its all diagnosed on behavior much like mental illness (bi polar ect) so ignorant people are always jumping to the conclusion that its all due to bad parenting. My youngest daughter has Autism....I get the stares and eyerolls when she is having a meltdown in a public place. People just need to be better educated, pure and simple.

Part of the quote "Don't sound like an idiot", is exactly what he sounds like.

It's pitiful, is what it is. He obviously knows nothing. He accused minority children of having asthma on purpose. Not because they live in bad environments, not because their neighbourhoods can be smog infected...but because they got money for it. Duh!

Like you can tell a LFA to smarten up! HA!

I know he's doing it to be shocking, but it doesn't help. It continues ignorance and prejudice. It sets back autism education.

There should be some way to sue him for his stupidity. Because he did this on purpose, not because he truly believes it.

Is there anyone out there who takes Michael Savage seriously? I mean, I know a guy who listens to Rush Lamebrain, and even he says Savage is an idiot...

I can't say I know what Michael Savage really believes or not - but he is routinely disgusting. I once had problems with low blood pressure, and my doctor recommended I listen to his show regularly. It was a miraculous cure!!

He's a shock jock, this is how he earns his living. Every time you quote him or complain about something he has said, you are doing what he wants you to. Just ignore him, it's not as if someone credible is saying these things, and getting indignant just plays into his hand.

This is one reason no one should listen to Michael Savage.

If someone within listening range says some ignorant BS
such as "Autism is a hoax", I would kill them with my bare hands!

I doubt there is.

Though, there is a guy that took Savage seriously and that got Savage fired from MSNBC...

Autism a "racket?" Hm, I haven't managed to get any money off of it. Savage's talk show is, however, quite the racket.

Yes. A guy who graduated with me from high school listens to Savage religiously. He can't stand Limbaugh, though... I guess Rush is just too liberal. Rolling Eyes

I wouldn't even give him my finger! He isn't worth the energy to lift my arm and point it at him!

What amazes me is that, as a society, we are so ‘down’ on prostitutes who make a living by providing a type of pleasure. Here, Savage, makes a living causing pain for others. He is a far greater evil, IMO, than any prostitute.

If people care about this they can write to the advertisers are tell them that since they provide the money to pay for this hate, we refuse to buy their products.
