I lost my remaining vision a month and a half ago. Strangely, I have adapted quite well so far. I get along fairly well with George(my white cane),and I can use a computer just as good as ever.
My brother has lost 25% of his sight. He lost 10 more percent of his hearing.
Oh,it turns out that I DON'T have the same hearing disease he does. Those stupid ass doctors need to be SUED.
And I can't get a guide dog until I complete O&M training.

Oh my goodness! I wish the human body and its medical conditions were as easy to follow and diagnose as circuit boards, but really, even doctors, good ones, don't know everything they need to know to figure out all medical conditions.
I hope you keep posting. I would love to hear about your adjustments and accomodations. On the other hand, if it's none of my #### business, I will respect that.
I have grown functionally deaf and the hearing aids boost the sound, but, unfortunately not the sense. First I lost the consonents, but lately I've noticed I'm mishearing the vowels as well. Do you think if I carried a laptop, people would be willing to type to me? My husband refuses to write for me. |

Glad to hear you're doing okay.
SpaceCase you have more determination and strength then some people twice your age. I don't doubt for a moment that you won't be able to acheive whatever you set your mind to.
So anyways, how did you come up with "George"? On second thought, that's probably a stupid question from a woman who had a computer named "Bertha". _________________ *Normal* is just a setting on the dryer. |

Gotta admire you. I don't think i'd be able to pull it off the way you did. I can't imagine living without my eyes working. And good think you won't be loosing your hearing too. One time that it was a good thing the doctors was right
Anywho, good luck with your future, and keep fighting! |

SpaceCase, I always think of you and how strong you are, since I'm having eye problems. I'm so glad you can use the internet !!!! _________________ So-called white lies are like fake jewelry. Adorn yourself with them if you must, but expect to look cheap to a connoisseur. |

It's good to hear from you Space! I posted a while back to see if you'd reply but no answer. I was worried.
Keep smiling! |
