I actually remember a lot of things. I remember going to my Aunt Ethel's up in San Fransisco, and I remember that it was foggy, wet, and rainy that day. I also remember the house; it was small, looking over a hill. I also remember going to mass with her, and then we went for breakfast after that- all this happend when I was 3.

I might be able to remember 2 seconds ago. And that is just a maybe. Who am I again? What just happened? I don't remember much of my childhood at all. The earliest memory is maybe when I was 12 or 13. I am 25 now, how ancient. My short term is so bad a fish could remember better than me and they could only remember something like 3 seconds or so.

I can actually remember before my mom and dad divorced in 1993 (it was before my 4th birthday, so I was three when they divorced) of this dachshund named Brandy that we had and also of the mall that we had by our house that was demolished to make way for a mini mall, and the day that Rhode Island finally got VH1 (it was like 1993/1994 I think).

So it's like really random things.

Childhood amnesia. There are several theories about why most adults have forgotten their childhood before about 4 years.

1. One is about how brain development has a major influence on memory of self.
2. Another one ties language acquisition to how early memories start. This one equates language ability to functionality of memory.
3. Interesting enough: Another theory ties childhood amnesia to missing/yet to be developed TOM.
4... there are more, I suppose..

I don't know which one is it. At least not the last two for me.

I have single but detailed memories from the months before age 1, I had no language and no baby babble before and already knew others were having their own agendas and intentions.

Hmmmm, very interesting pole results. The very first memory I have, though blurry and not very clear, is when a plastic tube was put down my throat while my I was laying on something. The man doing it was sweating and looking wide eyed to, I think. A brown skinned woman was standing next to his right, and looking over his shoulder. Her black hair was up behind her head. They both wore hats, face masks, and those wierd white upper shirt things. (whatever they are) It didn't hurt, but that white tube annoyed me very much.

Let me just say it felt to me back then, like it would feel right now swallowing a small wooden pole three times the width of a broomstick, at least. A very long time later, my father mentioned how I looked like I hated the tube in my throat right after birth. I really did feel that, and pop my eyes open widely. They don't believe me when I tell them I remember that a little, of course. :?

I vividly remember taking my first steps with my Aunt Gracie. It was a real rush to go from tripoding along the walls and furniture to actually taking a few steps before losing balance. When I saw her face smiling and how she clapped for me, I recall feeling what I can only describe as a sense of pride or accomplishment. Memories jump around from there.

I remember as far back to 1987. I was still in diapers and I can remember my stroller, my high chair, my car seat, me watching my two Disney Sing Along tapes, my baby sitter, I can remember my Dad's red business car, my baths and I hated having my hair washed. I can remember having my diapers changed and quitting.

I remember going to kah-Nee-tah in Oregon and we went with our neighbors which was with my baby sitter's family and we were swimming and Kristy (the baby sitter) had me play in the kiddy pool and she told me the big pool was deep for me. I can remember kids jumping in the water and I refused to get in line because I hated having water over my head and the life guard kept telling me to get in line and I just stood there. The funny thing is, I was 8 when we went there and I did not know I had been there till we went to the pool and that was when I talked about my memory being there and mom told me we did go here. I do not know how old I was, 2 or 3 but we were still living in Portland.

Man Omar still remember his glorious breakthrough into this world...before then even. It be like one of them waterpark slides, where u go down them long, dark, circular tubes, 'cept it be filled with blood and you be feel'n like you 'bout to drown, and there be high, moaning, cackling screams that accompanies you every inch of the way. And when you get out, there's a pair of giant, vice-like hands that just grips you and smothers you in some white rag. real horror show.

I think it's on the border of 1-2 years of age, I can remember being on a swing in the playpark, I'm still in nappies, and there is a photograph of this day.

You might think it's a false memory from the photo, but I can remember, my mum took me to the park to play on the swing, one of her friends/a neighbour came along a while after we'd been there and offered to take a picture of me in the swing.

No-one has told me this backstory I simply remember it from when it happened.

I can also remember dismantling the screw on my cot, standing in it being fascinated as it was raining, and I heard a car drive past i can still see it clear in my mind, the sounds of the car as it drove along and the wet noises of the rain. Quite beautiful sound. :)

Sorry, I voted on this poll a week or so ago but didn't reply. Anyway my memory goes back to when I was three. Though I know I had an eye operation then and don't remember anything before that.
