..because I never knew anyone that did. I'm fifty now and for many years because I live only 30 miles from where I lived aged seven to seventeen I didn't want any child of mine encountering anyone that knew me at school. Resonate with anyone?
Funny, I'm not bad looking, highly respected and talented in my field yet my self image is crappy. Perhaps its that which can push me to strive further workwise. |

Only had one child, a daughter who is doing quite well as an adult. One was plenty. Don't know how people have large families of 6 or more ... _________________ I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow. I feel my fate in what I cannot fear. I learn by going where I have to go. ~Theodore Roethke |

Never had kids, never wanted kids, never plan to have kids.
I get really annoyed at how society pressures people to have children. Everything, from benefit programs to grocery coupons, discriminates against single, childfree people.
And, yes, I said childfree, not childless. I do not feel that I am missing anything by choosing not to reproduce. _________________ Be who you are & say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter & those who matter don't mind. - Dr. Seuss

| I made up my mind when I was four that I never wanted to get married or have kids. I am twenty-one now and I still have not changed my mind. I don't want to have to dote on a man all the time let alone have a bunch of dirty screaming brats underfoot. |

Why feel bad about no havint or not wanting children? It is a personal choice and no-one should be made to feel bad because of it.
I only have 1 child, I don't want any more. Simple, my choice and I don't care what anyone else thinks. |

I have two kids but I would never live in my hometown for this reason. Some of the same teachers are even still there. |

Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one. - Bill Gates Bill Gates could be wrong about this. I am quite content that none of the jerks I've known have shown up anywhere near my chain of command, either above me or below me.
I live more than 100 miles from my hometown and I don't anticipate moving back. It's not that I dislike the people, but there isn't anything for me to do there except visit family.
I may not stay in Michigan for getting married. Having children is a secondary consideration. Willing to relocate describes my situation. _________________ White coats to bind me

There are seven kids in my family and its like living in a zoo. I've got 40+ first cousins on my mother's side alone. I like children but I will never have an of my own. Not wanting kids isn't a reason to feel guilty. Not everyone wants/needs children. There are more purposes to life than procreating. And in a world with such strife and so many children in need why shouldn't we take care of the kids who are all ready here first? |

Good mothers and fathers are invaluable to society, but that doesn't mean childless people are not. I'm really tired of people (particularly women) saying I'll change my mind. It's as if they're saying I have a treatable illness that I don't want cured right now, but once I just take the treatment my life will be whole or something. I'm terrified of getting pregnant (don't know if there's a phobia name for that), and babies and kids also kind of scare me. I would probably neglect them anyway. _________________ Noitaterpretnisim ot tcejbus si yas I gnihtyreve. |

| I really don't want to have children. While it seems that a great deal of women get warm and fuzzy feelings whenever they see babies and children, I get feelings of bitterness and resentfulness. I don't find them cute or funny at all; I feel no attachment to them. Not even my nieces and nephews. |

Each to their own. I have six children and life is chaotically fun. My youngest has high functioning autism. My life would be empty without them all and I knew from around 12 years old that I wanted children desperately.
On the other side of the coin, I do feel that it is wrong for people to have children "just becuase it is the thing to do" and I've seen many NT's do that. My own Mother was one example. She openly writes on her website (she is an opera singer) that she regretted giving up her career to have a family and that the only reason she had a family was that her friends were doing that at the time therefore she thought it was the right thing to do. Baaaaaaaa Mehhhhhhhh.

| I never had any desire to get married to have children. I'm not a wife or mother. Some gay marriage advocates I've spoken to like to talk about how it's EVERYONE'S dream to get married, but I always kind of figured I'd be living in a city or cultural center as a single adult. Bohemian minus the heavy drinking and New Age crap. No picket fences in sight. |
