Actually, now I think I know what my problem is...

It's not so much post count that bothers me...it's my own personal average posts per DAY that makes me worry.

You see, in order to make myself feel like a viable member whose opinion counts, I have to average at least 1.0 posts a day, for every day I've been on a forum. When I joined in January, I thought I'd have it made, because this was a forum with my own kind...my own people, so I'd have a LOT to talk about. But I've slacked off instead, so now I'm averaging a measly 0.9 p.p.d.

And that automatically makes me sub-par, inferior, and every other word that means 'expendable', in my own eyes.

*sighs* In a sea of old veterans and newbies with almost a thousand posts, I feel so much like a 'middle child'; ignored, alone, unimportant. Sad

That's some OCD thing I think. I can be a little obsessive compulsive myself, but about other things.

Oh, I see... Embarassed sorry for thinking otherwise...

And yes...*glare*...I see you have a large post count...in fact, I think it's TOO large for someone who joined only a month after me. But that's your business, not mine.

But seriously, one's post-count has no real bearing on the content/validity of the posts.

Usagi, when you ask if post count matters, do you mean if it matters to you, or to others?

One thing you should remember, Usagi1992, is that if you're long-winded or focus on making quality posts, your post count will naturally be lower than someone who only posts "I agree" or a variant thereof.

If you're really upset by your post count, the forum games are a good way to boost it. Or you can welcome newbies -- that's also a good way to make a positive contribution to the forum.

a lot of those are welcome to wp posts, and your "I can't find a girl" posts

look just because you post a lot doesn't mean people will like you
or notice you

Well, I'm not so much concerned for myself, but how others will judge me. I fear that members won't take me seriously unless I have a large amount of sage wisdom posts.

I personally don't care about my post pace...it's what OTHERS think of it that bothers me.

To be honest, it's not your sage-like posts that matter at all.
For me, it was that post you did about six or so months ago where you went a bit "over the top" that put you up there with some of the most respected (by me anyway) people on WP. Why? because you gave quite a lot of yourself then, stopped being just an icon.

Often we forget who we're talking to - sometimes I feel as if I'm just talking to a rubber duck, an anime or Phil Collins (Kilroy Razz ). The thing is, that whatever we say online in the forums, we are actually saying to real live people. It's very easy to forget that - and it's probably the main reason why people are so much more "daring" online.

Tim however, is a bit of an inspiration (and there are others). People who have a photo of themselves up there to remind you that you're talking to a real person.

Usagi, you're a real person to me and I don't care what your post count is. Your posts are quality enough for me.

Hmmm.

Well, I tend to see it like this: there are people who won't judge you by your post count; so, obviously, you don't have to care about those.

And then there are people who will judge you by your post count. By doing that, they're being irrational and shallow... and therefore you shouldn't care about their opinion, either Wink

*raises eyebrow*...

...*smiles a pinball smile*...I'm glad...

Thank you Gavin...I actually believe you...You're such a good friend. *Hugs*

And thank you everyone else here, for telling me that I'm not just a stain on the walls.
People here don't care about others' post counts, and if they do, they're shallow anyways. Razz

As for the suggestions of boosting my post count by playing those quiz games, I've done some over the past 2 days, but I don't wanna forget the importance of quality posts, and having a lot to say on a matter that's important to me.

Thank you all, I feel much better! Cool

The first forum I ever joined, I got to second most posts and became a moderator after two years. After 2 years, I amassed 15 000 posts. Now I barely check on that forum and don't concern myself with post counts anymore - although I am certain I have posted as much as 60 000 posts in all the forums I have posted in since 2003. Internet addiction? Maybe.

The only thought I have around post count for myself is that about every 300-500, I change my avatar.
