Just watched Ben X lastnight, on the recommendation of another member, it was quite good, sort of a bitter sweet ending.

I never thought about that...I mean, it's been a while since I last saw it, but I do remember those parts near the beginning where he was freaking out and the music and lights started getting so hectic that I could overwhelmingly feel his anxiety...

I'm gonna have to watch this again now.

I watched Ben X as well. Agreed that it's a great film, though the idea of how aspies hear people talking...seems a little over-the-top. Everything else, though, I thought was good. And yes, the ending was somewhat bittersweet as far as the one twist goes, but think about it. He's young, he's out of his hellish environment, and has the rest of his life to recover from PTSD(the real reason he hardly speaks, I think) and learn some coping skills.

Just found a book called 'Running with Scissors', which evidently is a movie as well. Someone in the book has Asbergers, but he's a minor character...

Chloe in one of the seasons of "24" ?

If you like English comedy, I strongly suspect Steve Coogan's "Alan Partridge" is an Aspie but he also has absolutely no empathy either. And it's not a movie.

He can't identify himself with other people
and his only friend is a 6-foot rabbit named Frank.

The reasons why I picked the four other movies go as follows.

Eternal Sunshine: Joel {Jim Carrey} is emotionally distant.
There is also the possibility of Charlie Kaufman, the screenwriter, being AS himself.

Lars & the Real Girl: Lars {Ryan Gosling} spends more time alone on his work
than with people. He lives with his sister and his brother-in-law.
Then, he brings his GF, to meet them. She is a sex toy Lars believes is his GF.

Eagle VS Shark: Lily has no friends. She gets fired from her job because she is "too nice."
She goes soul-searching and meets a bespectacled, mouth-breathing Jemaine Clement.
Think of this as an R-rated version of Napoleon Dynamite.

Punch-Drunk Love: Barry is socially impaired. His five sisters don't believe
in his social impairments & think he is gay. Barry has no friends
and is desperate enough to talk to someone. A sister sets him up
on a date with Lena Leonard, who may be socially impaired herself.
