I have had them before, I've broken many brackets by stimming on them. :D

I had them for years.

The oral surgeon continuously found something that needed to be correct about my mouth, until even my mother was sick of it, because my teeth already looked perfect after a year or two.

The braces pretty much ruined my teeth too. Holes, fragile and stuff.

Can't say I'd do along with that again.

I became obsessed with having braces when I was about 7; I remember bending paperclips and putting them in my mouth like a retainer.

I had them in middle school, my teeth were crowded and had to be respaced. They hurt but I never minded them. I never used the wax they gave me so my mouth was always cut up. It was just another feature of my life, it didn't really annoy me too much.

I'm just thankful I never had to wear headgear.

I had braces.
They were so uncomfortable, I hated every mintue they were on my teeth. They scraped the insides of my mouth and that put me in a bad mood most of the time.

What I hated more than the braces were the retainers. I didn't like the weird metal contraptions either. I didn't like anything about orthodontics.

Braces, retainers, headgear, palate spreaders, crozets or however you spell them, several teeth yanked out, and my teeth are still crowded and crooked and generally messed up, so I said screw it, orthodonture is too painful and expensive to bother with if this is the only result.

Yup. Had the whole kit and caboodle (except headgear, thankfully). Spacers, an expander, braces, and of course many, many retainers. I had an overbite on the sides of my mouth and an underbite in the front, so the fixing was a lengthy process. And now that I'm adult of course, my bottom teeth are crowding each other and one of my teeth is turning sideways. Oh, well. At least my teeth were perfect for a little while.

Yeah, those were the days! I had a horrendous over bite, my upper front teeth stuck out half an inch in front of my lower front teeth. It was next to impossible for me to eat certain foods. So I got braces...spacers, oral surgery, bands on every tooth that hurt to high heaven both during installation & after, neck & headgear (made me feel extra "horsey). Then after 3 or 4 years, they finally came off, & my hard palate grew forward & I had to start all over. Yeah those days were loads of fun!! ! NOT!

Plus I guess you could call it stimming. I would move my jaw side to side to crack it (still do) & the bands in the very back had sharp points that would get caught in the inside cheek tissue. The inside of my mouth is all scarred up from those days.

No. Even if I did I would find a way to get them off. I often wanted them so I could fight the issue. I was a weird kid. I would probably resort to hurting myself to get them off. I had a broken arm and was always taking my cast off. My parents were always having to take me back to the hospital to get another one, they had to make it so tight that it was beginning to cut off circulation. If I ever need them in the future I am either getting those invisible kind that can be taken off or am not getting them. I don't even like gum in my mouth. I'd rather have buck teeth than have to deal with the pain and have to look like a freak.

I had them for about 2 years in middle school, they weren't too bad except for when they had to be tightened. It's good to take a painkiller or something when this happens. Those little elastics also bothered me, I always promised I'd wear them and never would - didn't affect the outcome in the least. After a while, I just forgot they were there...

I'd say it was worth it (even though my retainer now is a pain in the ass), my teeth are pretty straight, which is really nice.

I have had them. i had them for 2 and a half years. got them when i was 18.
anyway my brothers and sisters have had them too. they had them when they were younger.
my mother said that she did not want to put me through that earlier, but she knew they were required. (my two front teeth on top and bottom were crossing over a bit)
my teeth are a lot better now. i just have to wear a retainer every so often just to make sure they stay straight.

as for the braces, the elastics were a bit annoying, the tightening part hurt a tiny bit.

braces are quite trendy apparently, u don't get called metal mouth anymore.

did anyone ever have to have jaw surgery? i had to have an operation to have my lower jaw moved forward while i had braces.(. i had to eat soft foods for a month. the plates are still in there but they don't bug me. the surgeon said he would take them out if they bugged me.
