This is a vent.....I am just soo mad! Schools offer such little resources to our AS children and the regional center NONE because they are not disabled enough Rolling Eyes

How can they feel our children do not need help? those children whos disability is more severe have the world adapt to them. On the other hand our kids have to adapt to a world where they do not fit in Crying or Very sad

How can they not offer help when my 11 y/o crys for 2 hours straight because he is worried about Death? When he refuses to cross the street becasue a car can come out of nowhere and run over him then we would have to call a ambulance and he may have ireversable injuries or worse off he could die then all his family would suffer!

I JUST DON'T GET IT!! Crying or Very sad

I think you have it backwards THEY DONT GET IT most of them just see displine problems. Problems that will only get worse the longer they continue to see it as so. Most regular Ed teachers have no clue about any of this stuff (he looks okay to me) and dont know how to handle it. Everyone needs more training and more programs for as kids. The longer they put these things off the worse it will get and the harder it is on the kids.

when our son was in regular ed, he had many meltdowns....they just simply refused to see them as being what they were~meltdowns....they refused to offer help~instead he was sent to detention, or suspended.after we got him into the school he's in now, i had the opportunity to talk to one of his old teachers~ she informed me that they ( other teachers) would just watch him sitting in the hallway, rocking back and forth on his heels and shaking uncontrollably. Evil or Very Mad
i'm so sorry that you have to deal with these sorts of things. it is terribly frustrating to find out that people really just don't understand~if they can't see a disability, it's not there.....

Are you in the US? If so do you have an IEP? Are you familiar with www.wrightslaw.com? You may need an advocate to help.

If you are not in the US I'm afraid I'm not too familiar with how the schools in different countries handle children with disabilities, particular "invisible" ones like our kids have.

{{hugs}} and know that we are here for you and at least know what you are going through.

I no how u feel. I'm in the uk & i am fighting so hard to get my son J the school he needs. J is not autisic or disabled enough to go 2 a special ed school so at the moment he is stuck in a school that does'nt have a clue how 2 deal with him. It's so frustrating.I'm determined 2 get j out of this school & soon.

J was diagnosed with as early last yr aged 9yrs, it was a battle just 2 get him diagnosed.
