Does anyone else here do drawings using POVray ?

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.
I have downloaded that program, but I have never been able to do anything with it and to be honest: I haven't tried hard enough to get used to it either.
I have managed to create vector based animations using the good old Real 3D program and Real 3D V2 when I used Amiga "a few years ago".
I've downloaded it, but the version I saw was like C programs, you had to put in numbers and code to get anything (this was a long time ago...
I've been doing 3d art for about 6-7 years. I seem to remember a program called Kerkytherea (sp?), that does pretty good renders. However,
it depends on the kind of art you want to do. There are thousands of free (or newly free) programs out there to do all sorts of art. For Open Source programs, you can get equivalents of Photoshop (the Gimp), Poser (Daz Studio), Wings 3d (low-end modeling), and the like for free.
There's even a free version of Bryce (landscapes), Terragen (landscapes, but no vegitation... for free.
Povray was the beginning for a lot of 3d art, but there are easier-to-use programs out there. I'm not sure what the policy is on posting links, but Renderosity, Daz 3d, 3d Commune, Runtime Dna, etc., are good places to start (some of them have unclad women, so don't try this at work...
For those who can not work out how to get POVray to wrk, here is a easy way to get started.
I found that that the most easy way to get a POVray file is to get a modern copy of ORTEP from L.J. Farrugia's web site at the University of Glascow and use this to write the POVray file.
This software will be able to draw 500 spheres with ease, you will need to get a file with the locations of the objects to use ORTEP, the most easy file type to write is the xyz file. ORTEP can cope with 500 spheres in a XYZ file.
The xyz file has the following form
Numberofatoms
XYZ file : Title
Atomtype x y z
So the xyz file to draw a cube of eight atoms would be
8
XYZ file : cube of atoms
K 1 1 1
K 1 1 0
K 1 0 1
K 1 0 0
K 0 1 1
K 0 1 0
K 0 0 1
K 0 0 0
Do not put anything special at the end of the file, just end it with the details of the last atom
Put that into a text editor and save it as a text file, change the expension on the file to xyz
Open the file in ORTEP3, adjust the view until you are happy
Then write the POVray file
Open POVray file
Now make the fine adjustments to the file, maybe add other objects by hand.
Lastly render your picture
This is the best way I have found for using POVray so far
