A 22 year old with cerbal palsy was left on the bus in New York City overnight New Years Eve - where temperatures plummeted to 15 degrees. http://www.aspieweb.net/special-needs-a ... overnight/

Quote: Linda Hockaday, 51 a driver’s assistant for Outstanding Transport, Inc was arraigned Friday on first and second degree reckless endangerment charges. According to a criminal complaint filed by the prosecutors Hockaday was aware Edwin Rivera was on the van, but refused to report it to the driver as she had an appointment and did not want to retrace the bus route. If convicted she may face up to 7 years.

51!! ! A woman that age had to be aware of what could happen - outrageous!

Well, guess she will most likely have to miss about 7 years of appointments for that...

Actually try copyright violating KaliMa.

I think the driver should be fired. I dunno about charges being pressed against.

Sorry, I don't get the joke. what copyright am I supposedly violating and how? Sorry, I'm a little dense sometimes - but you have captured my interest. :)

I think the driver and assistant should be forced to use a wheelchair for a week.

i doubt that would qualify as a decent punishment, i for one would love using a wheelchair for a week and don't see how it would show them any form of empathy. if they were forced to spend a week in the freezing cold and not allowed to do anything about it that may show them how it felt.

articles like this get on mynerves quite a bit, it's not the news that's a problem more a lack of it. from what i've gathered the bus could have been public transport or a special needs bus, the assistant could have been assisting the driver or the people on the bus etc. i can't make a decision on how i feel about this piece simply because i don't know how bad it truly is.

But then the people of New York will have to pay for her welfare checks.

Ok, messygeek, since you haven't answered my post in this thread or my PM I'll assume you did mean my avatar. As I told you in my PM, I got this avatar from the website listed in my signature and it says at the top of the page I linked to:

QUOTE
Welcome to the free smiley face galleries, all the smileys here are free to use and hotlink to, feel free to browse the archive and galleries and hotlink to whatever smileys you want!

Link Back Notes and Bandwidth Use
All I ask is that you keep the linkback intact if at all possible, or if you are a website owner and you or your visitors use the smiley faces in these galleries alot then a link back on your main page somewhere (doesn't have to be in a prime spot) would be much appreciated as I'm sure I don't have to remind you that bandwidth is expensive when alot is being used and this smiley site certainly uses it.

About These Smiley Faces
As far as I know the smileys contained in this free hotlinkable archive are public domain and are free to download and redistribute. I gather the majority of the smileys in this collection from other forums, I simply follow the referral links in my stats prog to see where people have used the smileys on this site and 9 times out of 10 there are other smiley faces there, occasionally the links I follow contain smileys I don't have in these galleries.
END QUOTE

I've bolded the sentences that led me to believe the smilies were available for use. I put a link to the website in my signature some time ago because I wanted to give credit to the site where I got the avatar.

I'm posting this because I don't want it to seem like I have no defense against your public accusation. The next time you have a problem with me I'd appreciate it if you'd handle it in a PM.

If you weren't referring to my avatar please respond to my PM or my post and let me know what you are talking about.

Actually no, copying and pasting paragraphs from a website is a flagrant abuse of copyright.

it depends on how seriously it's seen as, if you copy and paste a whole page's worth of information and state where it's from there isn't any legal implications, not that i know of anyway.

That doesn't tell me what you were talking about originally. I still would like to know why you called me "copyrighr violating KaliMa". You did that in this thread well before I copied those paragraphs off the site. Since it doesn't make sense that there would be a site called "free smilies" which didn't allow you to use the smilies I still don't know why you would call me a copyright violater. Please tell me why you made that charge originally.
