Does anyone have any issues with explaining your thoughts to people. Like the wrong word escapes from your mouth in place of what you meant to say?

Also, what about being actually misunderstood as if you mumbled or something?

Is this an Aspie trait?

Thanks

I can never seem to find the right word orally, but on paper I have no trouble. I can verbalize my thoughts to an extent, but I am very introspective, so when I do verbalize my thoughts it tends to do more harm than good.

Thanks.

It is the same for me. I am an exceptional writer (or so I've been told), but I am constantly having problems speaking my thoughts.

It really irritates me when I want to say something, but I'm not sure how to say it. I end up either saying nothing at all and end up seeming strange or I say something different and it gets misunderstood.

At last I find people that are the same as me. :)

For me, my mind mostly goes too fast and I can't put my thoughts into words fast enough, so my speech gets left behind, and I don't make sense.

i find it easier to describe it in pictures than in words like describe a picture

Sometimes when I try and explains things, I can never get out the right words or they are all jumbled up inside me and I can't get them out or I lose my train of thought.

Even when I am feeling insecure about something, this happens. Does that happen to everybody?

I always have trouble with explaining my thoughts.
I think it's very possible that it's an aspie trait, that or a form of social anxiety.

So do I. I feel that pictures leave a better way to explain things with out as much miscommunication. That's my opinion though.

I'm not the same way but I don't think everyone is like that. I would guess it'd depend on how much social anxiety you have, because when I'm not so anxious I don't jumble my words as much, yet when I'm anxious sometimes it's hard for me to talk(don't know why yet but hopefully I'll know eventually)

This happens a lot to me. Either I use some obscure word that needs to be explained. Or the word gets "stuck" in my head, and won't come out of my mouth. (If that makes sense.) Or I'm still getting caught up with the conversation; making sure I'm on point, and not going to repeat myself or anyone else. Therefore, most of the time I end up saying nothing at all.

I hate being unable to say what I want, although most of that has to do with being afraid of saying something I shouldn't, I just don't have a very good filter on my mouth, so I make up for it by saying very little.

Personally, I can relate to what you are talking about cause I have trouble both writing and speaking my thoughts as well as sometimes even forgeting my thoughts completely.

I've always attributed this to ADD, but that's just me theorizing and I really dont know what the hell makes my brain tick the way it does in the first place, so don't trust my word at all :? Your case seems to be slightly different than mine anyway cause you consider yourself a good writer but not a speaker, whereas I'm equally pathetic as a writer. Maybe it can be social phobia that makes you freeze up here cause you're telling this to a person rather than a piece of paper? Once again though, just take my ideas here with a grain of salt.

I often forget what it is I am thinking about. If I get distracted at all from what I am doing I will forget, unless I have something in front of me to remember by.

I hate trying to explain things to people, because I can never find the right words and when I do try to explain it to them, they misunderstand me. Last night when my mom and I had a long conversation, there were at least two instances where she was totally confused.
