Well the our wonderfully progressive government is about to go ahead with the live trial of its filter . This morning, Wikileaks published a list of websites blocked by the Australian Communications and Media Authority. As of this afternoon, Wikileaks is inaccessible from within Australia and has apparently been placed on the banned list. Along with the porn site are some christian groups, anti abortion groups, some political agitators and a dentist
BTW can someone copy and paste the banned list. http://www.wikileaks.org because my government has decided that I cannot visit this site
Orwell if I ever again speak up for censorship tell your god to strike me down
Edit = spelt the wiki link wrong _________________ "I'd take the awe of understanding over the awe of ignorance anyday"

"Connection to the server was broken while loading" here in Helsinki Tried it twice with the same result. Looks like international censorship. |

It may simply be that the Wilileaks server is being overwhelmed with all the requests for this topical information about the blocked website list. _________________ The Sun has risen and set for millennia. I was correct. Wikileaks has crashed under the load. An article on Reddit gives the following url for an alternative source for the list:

Primarily porn sites, so no one will whine. Who wants to speak up against banning porn? But they've mixed in that mass a few political dissidents, it seems. As a member of a fringe movement, Dent, you should be really worried about this in very practical terms. How long before the Marxists are forcibly silenced? When do you get your trip to Miniluv?

I don't think very many people remain in favor of censorship when it begins to actually impact them. The idea of silencing certain elements sounds appealing until you realize that a government bureaucrat can silence you.
Anyways, I've never messed around with it, but it should be possible to set up an internet proxy to bypass those restrictions. Doing so would also make your web surfing anonymous, if you're of the paranoid type and don't want Big Brother watching you. _________________ WAR IS PEACE
