I'm very self-aware and notice that I become nicer and mroe tollreant after drinking some coffee and I seem to have more confidence? This may be normal but I wondered if anyone else were the same? Also it makes me feel quite motivated too and feel like I can do just about anything I wanted and my life goals seem to be easier to reach? :\

It's probably normal but I get really anxious and wary when my mood changes, I know coffee is a strong stimulant but are these effects ok?

Does it actually make you feel relaxed and more able to focus? If so, you may have an ADHD co-morbid.

If it just "perks you up," that's the normal reaction.

I have to ask... did you put the exclamation point on the title of the thread after you had a cup of coffee? :)

I love coffee, except I can't drink it

I start freaking out, hallucinating and have flashbacks

Gives me the jitters (and makes me feel even more "up" than what I am). Like the taste, but I don't drink it much due to this one reason.

I feel the same way after drinking it. When I don't drink it I feel really lethargic.
Normally it would just wake a person up, but with me it completely changes my whole attitude.
I have heard it's good for people with ADHD to have it.

I like coffee. I drink the Burger King turbo blend when I'm on the road and it heightens my alertness, and increases my comfort with driving at the 70 mph speed limit, gas mileage be damned!

But it increases my voice control problems that occur when I get excited. A couple times I was making all kinds of insane jokes and almost shouting while discussing the direction of my coursework and research.

I would say that if it keeps you off stronger stimulants, that's a great way to medicate. You might want to run it by a doc, though.

For me, coffee is a must. Most of the time, I ache all over, it almost acts as a pain reliever, if you will. Not like a prescribed pain killer, more like an Aleve or something. Makes my body feel a lot better.

Since we are on the topic of coffee, I have to ask this question. My 3 year old, little man (PDD-NOS), LOVES coffee. He has drank it w/me every morning for almost a year. When he was younger, I gave him a sip, thinking he wouldn't like it and wouldn't want it anymore but it was the complete opposite. I have drank coffee occasionally, since I was 5, being raised by my 'country folk' grandparents and we always had a cup of coffee after supper each night. I didn't think much of letting him have some. Could he be getting something from it as well, that 'helps' him?

Well, it's 12:30 in the morning and I've got 1.5 cups of coffee in front of me right now...

Coffee does a number of things to me. I'll go sequentially.
1) Initial warm rising feeling.
2) Increased alertness and awareness of body. Increased motivation, talkativeness.
3) Suppression of appetite.
4) Darting, nervousness, anxiety, pacing, aimless activity.
5) Headache, irritability, more anxiety.

I like what it does to me for about the first 30-45 minutes. After that, it kind of sucks. I have big problems with anxiety, and coffee makes it worse. However, I also have issues with staying alert and "present", and coffee seems to help with that. So it's an even split.

Honestly, I like to drink tea a lot more. It seems to do most of the positive things with far fewer negative effects.

Coffee is awesome. But I only drink it due to its taste.

I don't really have any outside reaction to it whatsoever, except maybe some problems sleeping if I drink too much at the wrong time.

If it changes you in a good way by making you concentrate more then I don't see the harm in drinking it.

The first 3 things happen to me. I just had some and I still feel ok, if not even more energetic.

I always have a tea at night, to keep me warm on these cold winter nights and it's part of my routine.

It's good to drink de-caf coffee every now and then for at least a few days. It makes your tolerance go down.
