I had a fan crush on Werner Herzog for years in my 20's. I carried a picture of him in my wallet Rolling Eyes. I haven't seen all his films but I am partial to Kaspar Hauser. It's a story based in fact and I found it compelling I think because of the idea of someone raised without adequate sensory stimulation or human interaction spoke to my own sense of isolation and feeling "apart". The scene where he stands in the kitchen of the kindly village woman and says " Mother, I am so far from everything." really got to me.

I'm not 100% sure because the picture is so small but is that Buster Keaton on your avatar?

I'm not going to vote because the only one I've seen is Nosferatu, which I thought was directed by F. W. Murnau.

I recommend that you watch 'Stroszek' if you've never seen it.

The same 'actor' who plays Kasper Hauser has the lead role in that film as well. It's the only other movie Bruno S. ever acted in. He's not even a 'real' actor as he was spotted by Werner Herzog in a documentary where Werner Herzog saw him playing an accordion. He immediately wanted to cast him in his next film which happened to be 'The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser'.

Bruno S. spent most of his life in mental homes since his prostitute mother would beat him.

I didn't vote because I haven't seen all the ones in the poll, but of the ones I've seen my favourite is probably Woyzeck, with Aguirre a close second. I haven't watched Kaspar Hauser, I should one of these days...

Aguirre is great because it's got Klaus, but I voted Heart of Glass, love the story.

Still need to finish watching that entire movie. It's kind of tough to not fall asleep during it. It's a good film, it's just that it's so calm, which instills drowsiness.

Yes, it is. I like Buster. I want a tshirt with that face because it exactly matches my usual expression. Neutral

I knew a man like that. He would come into a diner where I worked. He developed crushes on women in professions where they took care of people, mainly nurses and waitresses. When things got too bad he would cut himself. He was very sweet and mentally challenged but who knows what could have been if his circumstances were different. His mother was a prostitute too. He was in his 60's when I knew him so I imagine the mental hospital where he was warehoused wasn't all sunshine and orange juice.
