I used to think there was a program that I could download to calculate the IP address of a name, being purely mathematical

What did other people used to look for, that is just impractical

nslookup ? It does not calculate anything though. It queries the internet name servers.
alternatively you can use 'dig'

both are command line tools. You can find them on you computer. Not sure about that when you are using windows.

Hello, spambot!

I'm looking for a program that, given another program and its input, will tell me whether or not that program will ever terminate for that input.

Aww... can I keep it mum? PLEASE!?

Anyway, I used to use something called netstumbler. Pretty worthless as I was the house network admin and locked everyone to a specific IP address, but still kinda cool.

Cool Web Search - installed itself in the background, took over everything, I think it modified the Windows kernel. Spent 3 months deleting registry entries (which immediately came back), files, programs, processes. running Hijack This! (not sure if it helped much, but I liked the name...Wink, going to Computer Cops, yada, yada, yada. Finally had to back off all the data and reformat the mofo....sigh...Wink

if not, it wasn't for lack of trying. By using various tools, I figured it would reinfect the drive before you even got a blinking cursor...Wink

All I want is the coder, a ball peen hammer, and 5 minutes with his fingers...Wink

When I was younger, I bought really cheap, generic games on the discount rack at computer stores. Full of bugs, crappy graphics, and sometimes just didn't work.
