I run my pillowcase through my fingers.

How is this done?

Most pillowcases are poly-cotton blend (they have to be the right blend or it doesn't work). They make the pillowcase nice and cool to the touch. If I press my hand onto the pillowcase and then drag it along, it feels really nice Laughing

If that isn't pretty much the wierdest one on here I'll be surprised. I was like "AWW, so that's what that is" when I first found out what stimming was because I've done this since I was a child and have always wondered why I do it.

Probably twisting things like seatbelts and socks, if you can count that as a stim.

I also pull out hairs one at a time, but only around my forehead and in front of my ears. some of them feel like they don't belong there and I HAVE to take them out. I also play with my nose, lips, rub my eyebrows (and have to jump up and get tweezers if a hair is bothering me).

lately I've been playing solitaire on my ipod when I have to wait in public so I don't swing my leg, pace, stare at people and do other weird things. reading a magazine helps too but usually the ones I find in offices are really boring or I'm there often enough to have read all the interesting stuff. I guess I'd have to consider solitaire a "stim". my grandfather used to play it incessantly and I kind of wonder if it was the same thing for him. he was an odd duck when I think about it, but he was so much fun to hang out with. he didn't talk much, but he was full of facts and strange stories and had some fascinating interests.

I used to pull out my hair, but I didn't want to go bald so I finally made myself stop. When I'm very stressed or tired or unfocused, I love to bang the back of my head into the wall, not so it hurts, just to feel the thud. But I almost never get a chance to do that, though in grad school I gave in a few times and did during long study sessions, and just let people stare and deal with it. Heck, during finals, everyone else was so stressed and exhausted too that I doubt anyone thought much about it.

Otherwise, I chew on the inside of my lips and press my thumbs against my fingernails and twiddle my toes constantly. I learned at some point to keep it subtle, I guess.

Well, there is this one thing I do that I have no idea how to explain. It's like a tensing up that causes this weird inner ear spasm. I used to have long hair, so I'd twirl it a lot, but that's not really all that weird. Oh yeah, I do pop my thumb a lot.

Let's see...
I like to sniff the undersides of my fingernails.
If there is dried dead skin on any of the animals in my house, I like to pick it off. It is so relaxing to do, both for me and the animal Very Happy
I like to pull out any loose eyelashes, or pick at any dried dead skin on myself.

Does flipping a coin when you are a little anxious count?
Pacing up and down the room when I play music on my iPod.

I don't wear jewelry because I destroy it. I didn't know that was a stim.

Don't know if it counts as a stim, but I do do something I think is kind of odd - I stick my fingers/hands in the waistband of my pants and push against the waistband with the back of my hands. The feeling on my hands is nice plus I just plain appreciate not having the damn pants rubbing on at least some of my skin for a bit. Of course, this has the potential for pretty serious misinterpretation in public Embarassed . It's definitely something I try to keep to a minimum when others are around, although I am not always successful...

When sitting with a group of people, I sometimes tend to make left leg flop like a fish under the table.

The stim I usually catch myself doing is putting my thumb and middle finger together and then tapping it with my index finger, probably because I like the sound it makes. I also slide my hand from the front of my head to the back, especially when I have my hair up or I've had my hand in the air.

I pull my hair out and crack my joints almost non-stop..

When I was younger, I used to pull my hair out and then burn it. Neutral
