I know almost nothing about computers. All I can really tell you is that I have dial-up, MSN, and Windows Vista. Up till tonight when I was on another site, for example here, when I got an email there would be this notice in the bottom right saying I had a new email and who it was from. Then I could open it and read it without leaving here.
That stopped. Does anyone know why? I still get it the number of new emails up by the 'Mail & More' by the 'home, connection center, etc.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Uhura |

That would be MSN telling you that... you have to be logged in and have the feature enabled... I don't remember MSN that well, so forgive me, but it should be a notification setting.
And dialup? Really? _________________ Every time you think you've made it idiot proof, someone comes along and invents a better idiot.

Yes, Dial-up. Partly because of finances (dial-up is a gift, I'd have to pay any differences) but a lot of the reason is that I just can't deal with the change of getting anything else. Aspie trait.
Why would I all of a sudden not be logged in to get that? I did nothing different than before it stopped. |

| It seems to be working again. It gave me me an error number for something unrelated and said to resart the computer. I did and for some reason it is giving me the email notices again. So far anyway. |

probably a good idea...though, if you ever did try DSL/Cable Modem, etc., the sudden increase in speed and ease of use can be unsettling...
then you'd never want to go back...it happened to me... _________________ anahl nathrak, uth vas bethude, doth yel dyenvey... |

Don't be so quick to judge. Dial-up is very useful. _________________ Reality is a nice place but I wouldn't want to live there |

Actually - no-one has MSN. MSN is just MicroSoft Network. That would be like saying you have Microsoft installed. Unless you mean the MSN Messenger, or the now renamed Windows Live Messenger?
I don't see the advantage with dial-up, other than the fact you can be sure to disconnect it guaranteed. But even that can be done with a faster connection |

| I guess I'm just used to saying MSN and associating that with the butterfly. |
