I am only recently diagnosed but I had a wonderful moment last week.

I was 'explaining' my AS to a disbelieving friend/good acquaintance.

I was mentioning some of the traits (and trying desperately to allow him to say something) when I go to 'eye contact'.

At the beginning of the diatribe we had eye contact and then (I am never conscious of the moment when I actually look away) I realised I was looking away (and at nothing in particular)

I moved my head back with my hand, raised my eyebrows to communicate humor and started laughing.

I ran into a parked SUV. My chiropractor had a rough time adjusting me after that.

I blurted out "here" when attendace was taken at jury duty...before they called my name. The pause told me she was ready to call me but couldn't pronounce my last name. I had the whole place rolling! But...i am not one to like being the center of attention, so it was quite embarrassing.

My full first name is Georgina, and some teachers call me Georgia instead of Georgina, so I got used to answering to any variation of my name (what I should have done was refuse to answer to anything but Georgina or Gina). But in my science class, there was a girl called Georgia, and I accidentally answered to her name instead of my own. Embarassed

I think it would have to be the time that my teacher told me I was wrong and I responded with something along the lines of "Are you stupid ?" and then explained my point in what was probably a very aggressive tone of voice. Every single person in the class looked shocked and that's when I realized I probably said something wrong. I had a few more of very similar situations, where I said completely "unacceptable" things to teachers and people always found it funny afterwards. Somehow I never got in trouble for any of them Very Happy

I'm very bad about correcting authority figures. They usually don't like it. Laughing

The funny moments are mostly due to the fact I don't follow the pecking order like everyone else, and I tend to be bluntly honest, even when it's not to my advantage.

Last semester, I would take the stairs on the way to a class, but take the elevator going out. Why? The door to the stairs had "Fire exit: keep closed" so I wouldn't go through it, even though I knew it was the same door I opened on the way to class, until I saw someone else do it about two weeks later. I still can't explain why, haha.

It's the reason why I wouldn't last more than a day in the army.

I used to think those signs meant you have to keep the door permanently closed without exception. I wondered what was the point of putting a door there in the first place if you couldn't open it.

Once in a market, there was pork pie for sale. I told my dad I wanted one, my dad said "it's with jelly." Now, he meant a special kind of jelly for the pork pie, but I took it literally and thought a disgusting pork pie with fruity jelly. And my dad could tell I thought that by the look on my face. Laughing
