2.) Dead weights to society
3.) Wierdos and crazy people
4.) People who shouldn't be born anyway
5.) Self-interested sociopaths who would take advantage of anyone

Why do you always post such negative threads about NTs? Not all of them are that bad... in fact, many of them try their best to understand, it's just hard for them to do so!

Could just be a symptom of a bad people day...
I sure don't find much useful in nurturing such negativity. I do know some very wonderful NTs who try as hard to understand me as I try to understand them. |

My goodness. You must've had some bad experiences growing up. You've claimed before that you are not biased against those more neurotypical than you, yet you have posted nothing to indicate that this is really the case. Instead, you keep starting threads like this one.
Secondly, you are speculating on what other people are thinking about people with AS. How is that the least bit helpful, except to make yourself feel better? Maybe you should post this in The Haven, if that is the case.

On one hand I dont agree with trying to group NT's into one catagory cause not all NT's are the same just like how not all aspies are the same. Theres a lot of nice people out there technically. On the other hand, I do agree to some extent with 1,4, and 5. Here are my reasons for each.
1. People have told me many times to think before I talk and I am not not one of those people who just go around blabbing crap. I actually think more about what I say then most people yet people dont realize that. My judgement and intentions have been questioned many times
4. There many people out there trying to find the "cure" for autism.
5. And I thought I was only person with this problem. I often "mistakenly" take advantage of people when I just wanna get to know them better and I dont know how to approach them so I often approach them with a reason. And eventually its pretty common for them to think Im trying to take "advantage" of them. That is sooo not true  |

Yes.
I've had that one implied to me many times, said out loud too actually.
During most of my childhood actually when I was labeled with suspected AS.
Point one is usually said by misinformed people who just hear the word 'autism' or have very selective hearing.
However, many people wouldn't know that I've even been considered AS, yet the bizarre thing is that they've said things that completely contradict point one!
Kind of ironic really.
People unaware of AS have said things things to me like:
-You are quiet, but you have a brilliant. I'm happy with how you're doing and I wouldn't change you for the world
-You are a good friend and a friendly person
-You help people
-You are clever
-You are a systematic worker
-You are organised
-You hand in assignments on time
-You are an excellent listener
-You are determined
-You have a unique sense of humour
-You are self aware
-You can see things most other people can't
It's a shame how the mention of negative AS criteria might skew people's judgments of me.
Some people even tried to defend me when others ganged up against me with their negativity.
The bottom line:
I'm still the same person with the same character traits, it was only people's perception of me, social expectations or the environment that changed. |

Hey Boswani,
Truely sorry you feel like this.
I for one, can never be sure what NT folk really think (as opposed to what they say they think) so If I want to understand them I have to depend largely on what they say.
To be honest my experiences of telling my 1 good friend about my ASD has been very possitive indeed.
This friend frequently tells me the thngs she likes and admires about me which are a direct result of being an ASDian.
More interestingly, (and some here may enjoy the irony of this) This apparently very NT friend of mine has started to attribute many ASD qualities to herself as well. She says things like "honest women like us" "people who are passionate about things" "people who don't care that much about outward appearances" "people who live in the moment" "People that are straight shooters" "people that are all taken up by the process of things that they forget about the end result of the process" "people who treat everyone with the same respect no matter who they are" "people who don't care about the latest trends" "people who look deeply into most things" "stubborn" "driven" "thoughtful" "tireless". Not sure I see any or all of this in my friend but that is not the point. That an NT person wants to be like us says that they can't all think like you think they do.
How bad can we be, how much can they hate us if some NT's want to be like us? I hear it the other way around so often it scares me.
Listen long enough you will hear something positive. |

I'm NT and I can relate sometimes too. IMO It's not just Aspies that get abuse, the assholes don't discriminate.

1.) I've run into my fair share of them... of course not all NT's think of us in such a way.
2.) School and College is full of all kinds of prejudiced people.
3.) Yep... run into my fair share of them as well... some of them weren't so bad - just joked about thinking I was stoned all the time. Some were a little more intimidating.
4.) lol not sure I've every run into anyone that evil... you never know though... a bully is a bully is a bully.
5.) Nah... I think most of them were feeling that I was a target for them to use their sociopathic ideals on.
You're right, but at least half of the NT's out there are nothing like this.

I disagree. I am more NT than AS (my son is AS) and I hear NONE of these statements from ANYONE I know personally. By their actions it is also clear they do NOT think this way. While my world may be a little skewed, it isn't THAT skewed.
I realize it is difficult when you've faced ridicule and rejection in your life to know the difference between someone treating your poorly because, well, they treat everyone poorly, and someone treating your poorly because of traits unique to you. But not every slight is personal. In fact, most are not.
