I'm in Brisbane ,I'd be intrested but can't help feeling it would be like Bizzaro Jerry (Seinfeld) the one where Elaine introduces Jerry and Co to her new gang she hangs out with their polar opposites yet at the same time are so similar. I have a feeling it would be more extreme than meeting a NT it would either go really really well or really really badly, but what would I know never been to one , though I do no it should be intresting, something I should do at least once in my life.

Can it get a little boring if you don't share the same interests? To be honest with you I think I'd prefer to be with a fellow aspie playing X box, go for a bike ride on my Schwinn (attention seeking) cruiser or a art house movie but I suppose this is still a meet up to. Does it have to be so formal?

Another point would it be just a b***h session I enjoy bitchin as much as anyone though it can get a bit much.

Also would you know if the person your talking to is a WP person? Or would you need some sort of letter from your GP as proof?

And WTF I read on the international meet ups their was discussion of getting the media involved, why would you want to do that all they will do is miss represent what/who we are though the SBS/ABC could be a good bet.

I just read a forum that wanted to know where Aussie Aspies were from. So, I decided to start a new thread for us (and anyone else interested in Australian things).

So, welcome to all.

I am from inner west Sydney. It would be great to meet other adults Asdians from my area. Ironically there's not much in the way of adult support groups in Sydney.

Is there such a thing as respite for adult aspies in Oz. I am getting to a point where i need to remove myself from the world for a while. I need life to be much simpler.

Hi [b]lithium73[b]!
I've been in same situation. Asked about respite. Need to be over 65.

Was told Villa Maria might be able help! Don't know if there is one in QLD.

hi all, i am in geelong in vic... i have finally just had an accurate diagnosis of my 10 yr old aspie.. (he has been called twice exceptional, gifted and aspie) its such an exciting time sharing the journey with him, albeit some very high highs and very low lows, its beautiful seeing the world from such a unique perspective and learning about the amazing skills and interests of some famous and not so famous aspies. Aspies sure do make the world so much more interesting. I am so happy to have found this site. I look forward to reading more from what seems like a great community of posters...
P.S. wrong planet is great, its a forum i would be tempted to join without the ASD association as i daily think i am on the wrong planet Very Happy
Thanks Niki

I'm in Tassie.

I'm interested in hearing from any other Tasmanians as far as adult diagnosis goes. All the Aspergers specialists seem to be on the mainland. Has anyone been successfully diagnosed in Tasmania?

Thanks.

HI ALL!
I've made an appointment for a DX in mid January.... have to travel to Sydney..... will cost approx $400.00 for DX and extra $180.00 ( if I remember correctly) for a written report.

Adult DX , forgot to mention that! Very Happy

Place is at ETOH Clinic...... Embracing the Other Half..... deals with Asperger's and other Spectrum disorders.....!.Psychologists not Psychiatrists.

Am writing this on the Aussie Page as I need to write how I feel about it and am too ashamed to write it on another Thread.

I'm ashamed to be a white Aussie because today, in WA, a 12 year old boy was "held in appalling conditions for hours for being in receipt of a 70 cent stolen Freddo Frog",
Crying or Very sad
THIS ISN'T A JOKE!

And you guessed it he is Aboriginal.

His Lawyer, a mister Collins, asked the police to drop the charge but they insist on taking him to court.........he has no criminal history. Mad
