During flu season this year, emergency rooms and doctors' offices might become crowded with patients seeking help for flu symptoms. This assessment is based on material licensed from Emory University. It is meant to tell you what some experts think about whether you should visit a doctor for H1N1 flu.

You will get guidance based on your answers to the questions. This can help you make a more informed decision, but you are responsible for your own health decisions. This assessment is not medical advice. Microsoft can’t say whether the guidance from this assessment will be right for you.

This self-assessment is intended for residents of the United States only.

Last week I had the flu. Symptoms were stuffy nose, fever, muscle aches and stiffness, as well as a short lasting pounding headache at the most severe phase, coupled with a dry, hacking cough.

I've been coughing up the last of the phlegm from this over the past weekend, and it is more or less gone at this point.

I believe this to have been the H1N1 that is currently the flu that is going around. --As far as the flu is concerned, I've definately had worse than this.

Friday night on into Saturday I was hit with something that resembled many of the H1N1 symptoms.
But yesterday morning my fever went down and my head cleared up. This may have been just another
nasty head cold but I am taking no chances I am getting the Swine Flu shot as soon as possible.
I got the seasonal flu shot earlier this afternoon at work.

Based on your answers, you probably have the flu and you might be very sick.

Call your doctor now!

Weird, I got the "very sick" evaluation and I feel okay. Not great, but "very sick"?

They are really mishandling the immunization clinics here in Alberta, Calgary only had 4 understaffed clinics, they opened a 5th one at the Olympic oval by the U of C. I had my appointment canceled for my flu shot at my doctors office, so I am hoping I still have some immunity, but I am feeling very ill today, and my room mate has been vomiting and on the toilet for 2 days. and I am getting very worried

Both my husband and I have the flu, don't know if it is the H1N1, but I am pretty confident that it is. I had it for a few days, I had a small fever yesterday but asprin took care of that no problem. Today I just have the sniffles, small dry cough, and feeling a little weak.

My husband however has had the fever 3 times this week, he is sleeping a lot and had a little nausea, but no vomiting. I just give him asprin and cold cloths. I hope he gets better soon.

Well turns out I didn't have h1n1 before, just a bad cold and a poor diagnosis, I got up on monday morning with a tummy ache
and a burning sensation in my chest, by 1 pm I was aching all over and light was hurting my eyes, my room mate who works at the hospital took me into emergency since I am diabetic, I had nice long wait in isolation room and finally saw a doctor after a 6 hour wait, I had to get a IV since I was dehydrated then given a chest x-ray and given a prescription for tamrflu, which really helped with
the worst symptoms.

Flumoxed topic

Friskeygirl's symptoms are what I have had in the past and thr reason why I get the seasonal flu shot every year. I will be getting both shots next week.

I believe I have had H1N1 years before; perhaps I contracted two types of flu at once, plus bronchitis. This is not the first time a nasty has surfaced, but perhaps the first time there has been such a pandemic in many years. The 1918 H5N3 flu (I think this is the code for it) must have been horrifying. Shocked

In Australia winter is just ending.

I had "the flu" as did my wife, kids and grandchildren.

We coughed, felt like hell and had temperatures for a few days.

Was it the dreaded "swine flu" or "bird flu"?

Who knows and who cares? It came and it went just like any other flu.
