If you didn't hear this, this is a heartwrenching case. In Ohio, a severly autistic person named Sky Walker beat his mother to death. He is currently in the county jail, on 24/7 supervision. Now, my question is: What to do in this case? Prosecutors and the defense both agree that he is not competent to stand trial. Overall, I am heartwarmed by the treatment the deputies have given Sky.

He will need to be confined for the rest of his days. Unfortunate for him, but fortunate for all others (albeit too late for his mother).

Following the letter of the law, he'll get executed. America is one of two countries in the world (I think Saudi Arabia is the other) where mental illness is not an excuse.

Fortunately, judges tend to follow the spirit of the law, not the letter.
