on abc. is anyone planning to watch it. I think it seems a bit interesting. it reminds me from the preview of that episode of the Twilight Zone "To serve man" at least at a glance.

I was a fan the first time around (when the original V mini-series aired in the '80s.) Smile

With Morena Baccarin (from Firefly) in one of the leads, I absolutely won't miss it! (I notice that Alan Tudyk is also listed in the pilot - sort of a mini-Firefly reunion.)

I might watch it all depends. I don't get much time on TV on Tuesdays. There is always fancast and Hulu though if it comes there.

I'll be watching with trepidation. The first show, like the original Battlestar Galactica, was very cheesy. I'm hoping that, like the new BSG, the new V will be a bit more cerebral. The danger, though, is that a cerebral show doesn't appeal to the mass audience and is likely to be canceled. BSG survived as long as it did because it was full of hot women in revealing clothing and lots of shoot-em-ups. It's the same thing that was used to tweak the cerebral Star Trek Enterprise after its first season of poor ratings. (In that case, the tweak didn't save the show.)

I agree completely. I would just like to add that we shouldn’t confuse being cerebral with a soap opera type drama however. It seems that many science fiction shows like Lost and Flashforward are trying too hard to appeal to the homemaker types that are too busy to get their soap opera fix during the day.

Indeed. Defying Gravity's mystery about the alien lifeform is interesting, but the soapy nature of the drama is off-putting. I want to see more episodes to see where the mystery goes, not to see who shags who.

I was watching the last couple of episodes of Stargate Universe and was irritated at the pseudo-porn scenes between the lieutenant and the politician's daughter, clearly aimed at getting that mass market appeal and not advancing the story. If I want porn, I'll TiVo real nekkidness or get it online. So I fast-forwarded past those parts. But I know a lot of guys aren't allowed (either by wives or mothers) to have real porn, so that's all they're gonna get and they make the most of it, and I put up with it for their sakes.

Well... Personally, I was not so much disappointed (since I didn't really have high expectations) as unsurprised. As much as I liked some of the actors, there wasn't one second when I felt surprised by any of the plot or dialog. I may be getting jaded, but I really need to be caught somewhat off guard by a television show or movie, or I quickly lose interest. This show just didn't do it for me. Sad

The brunett looks the part for lizard lady, in my oppinion. Funny. I said "ok lizard." when she was talking in the commercial before we knew the product, then chuckled when I then discrovered she was in a comercial for V. Laughing What a cioncidence.

I watched both. I actually prefered the original. This new version did not have the same feel of the orginal.

I watched it. OMG it's good!

It seems as though ABC is recycling actors who were on Lost.
Elizabeth Mitchell{Juliet} is the lead protagonist on V
and Dominic Monagahan {Charlie} can be seen on Flash-Forward.
