I put the "Females Only" warning in the subject line in case this shows on the front page. I don't think any men want to read about this sort of thing. Heck, I'm a woman, and I generally don't like talking about this kind of thing even with other women. For any men who just couldn't help your curiosity, you've been warned. This thread is about products used for "monthly female issues."
Does anyone else here use the DivaCup instead of the traditional disposable "feminine products?" I've been using it for about a year and a half or two years now, and I don't think I could go back to the other things (which I only use in an emergency, like if I didn't know I was going to start my time of the month that day and didn't think to put the DivaCup in my purse). Aside from saving money, it also seems more comfortable than tampons, and especially pads (which have always felt disgusting to me unless used in conjunction with something else). I just wanted to know what other women thought about it.

| I used to use a disposible type of cup called "Tassaday" if I remember correctly. The silicon looks like a real improvement, though, as the Tassaday was not flexable enough to make it a game changer in feminine hygene back in the '70's. |

| used it almost 2 years now and love it. it was rough in the beginning, i mean when i looked at the size of the thing i was wondering how it's gonna fit there. now i love it, it helps so much with my heavy period, no leaking and it can last whole day at job or when i travel. it was a big issue for me because i hate to change tampons in strange bathrooms with unknown germ count. really recommend it. |

I've converted several of my friends over as well - in fact, one friend just got hers last week! I like that it's environmentally friendly, but I have to say that the main plus is that you can just put it in and forget that you're on your period all day. My job is often active, without access to a loo, and I'm often the only woman in the group, so the DivaCup is awesome. It's so good for camping and working in the outdoors. I also like that it seems to be a lot more hygienic, too! |

I have used the mooncup, which is similar, once. I will try it again I think when cycle comes back after baby is born. (Tried it between babies.)
In general though I found the washable pads great. Better for the environment, and they felt like cotton undies on my skin instead of horrible plastics.
I may end up using some mix of the two? |

| I swear by the Divacup and Mooncup (I have one of each). I can't believe I went so long suffering through pads and tampons when this was out there just waiting for me. It's so comfortable and I can almost forget altogether that I'm having my period, which is great! I was so excited and happy about my discovery of the diva/moon cups that I wanted to shout it off the rooftops. All those women still dealing with the disposables just don't know what they're missing. |

| I've been collecting all the menstrual cups, been using them for years. I have divacups, mooncups, the fake knockoff mooncups, the clear keeper, the brown rubber keeper... I just use one of my mooncups, it's my favorite because it's nice and firm. There are a bunch of other brands but I don't care about collecting them all anymore. |

| My only complaint is these are too expensive. 30 dollars for a little piece of plastic. OH well, one time cost, beats buying disposable stuff every month. |

I tried to use the Mooncup and I just couldn't figure it out. I use tampons, but trying to use the Mooncup was really painful. The material was really rigid and hard to fold in the right way. Sigh...I really wanted it to work!

It's a plasic cup that you fit up inside of you and it holds all the monthly flow for the day. You take it out at the end of the day wash it out and put it back. I've looked them up and if your able to use a tampon it looks doable. The tampon causes me trouble with my IBS < I've got to kind were you just have to go all the time>  But it looks like something that most women could use easly and safely. Wish I could try it but I know it would all just end in tears and all of pooh. Sorry if I gave to much information. |

| I keep hearing about these but I've been leery of trying them... my main concern is getting it in and out. They look so large. How do you get it in? How do you get your hand in enough to get it out again? Isn't it hard and uncomfortable when installing/removing? It also seems like it would be messy to pull out full of blood without spilling on your hand, clothes, etc. Sorry about the graphic images this may bring up but I am concerned about it though on one hand it seems like a good idea. |
