Same here. More often, it's been my experience that the prof waits until after the drop date and then starts pulling out the truly offensive comments and/or the insane expectations. _________________ "In the end, we decide if we're remembered for what happened to us or for what we did with it."

I’m waiting for results of a soci exam I took Tuesday.
I’m not too worried…
After the first test, a guy was asking the Professor, let’s call her Prof. Totalhotness, how everyone did on the test…
She says, “Well, in my other class the average was 75%, which is about what I wanted. After I curved it, everyone did well.”
Then the guy asked her about our class, and she said it wasn’t so good.
The guy said, “…but you’re gonna curve it, right?”
She said, “Well, somebody made 101, so it won’t help.”
She looked at me and smiled.
Everyone hates me now.
I’d be pissed, if she wasn’t so adorable. _________________ Come on monsters, you don't have to cry... we can be HAPPY !!!

That can be so hard when a prof lets everyone know you're doing well.
My first economics class, about 3/4 of the students were failing the class and I was making an A. The prof let people know that I was doing well at the same time that she berated everyone else for not doing well. It was really hard for me to be in that class afterward and there were several times I left class in tears because the bullying was so bad I felt like I was back in high school. There were even students who were acting like they were going to punch me in the face but stopping their fist just inches from my nose or eyes (I guess so I couldn't sue them?) I would have reported them for assault (where I live: assault = threats, battery = actually hitting someone) but it was a class of 300 students and with my prospagnosia, I couldn't report that "the blonde haired girl did it" when there were maybe 50 blond haired girls in the class.
The bright side of it all was that because I did so well in a class that nearly everyone failed, I got a personal letter from the economics department asking me to please consider majoring in economics because it was apparent that I was very good at it. I already had a major (political science) and had only been taking the economics class to get a more well-rounded understanding of political issues, but the letter was so encouraging that I ended up adding economics and doing a double major. It's turned out to be a good thing, too, since it was in my political economy class that I got exposed to the ideas that led to the topic I'm now working on for my doctoral dissertation.
That first economics class was so miserable, though, that I took my second economics class as an online course so I wouldn't have to risk getting bullied like that again. After that, the core curriculum classes were over and only other economics majors were in my classes so I was safe from that awful mob bullying and didn't need to take online classes again. When I was having such an awful time in high school, people would tell me to hang in there because "college is different." My experience has been that, at least in the beginning, college is not always very different. As it goes on, it can be easier to deal with. I suspect there's still a lot of the bullying now, in grad school, but it's socially subtle enough that I don't see it. And that's a good thing. Most of what I experience from my classmates is dismissal, ignoring, or outright exclusion and that's a LOT easier to deal with than harsh words and fists to my face. _________________ "In the end, we decide if we're remembered for what happened to us or for what we did with it."

Gosh, I’m really sorry to hear you’ve had such a bad time bully-wise.
My school experience has been pretty positive—at least as positive as I’d expected.
Of course, 20 years in a male dominated, applied science (read blue collar) career field has more than prepared me for anything a few college kids could dish-up.
Being a social-cripple and twice the age of most of my classmates has limited our interaction, but what little interaction there is, is usually civil enough.
I think most of my ‘peers’ generally think of me as ‘that weird, old dude who studies too much.’ I got a few dirty looks for blowing the grading curve, but other than that, they leave me in peace.
I’ve also been lucky enough to have some excellent teachers who seem genuinely pleased to have a student who’s interested in more than a passing grade.
In my first little response paper in that soci course, I wrote 8 pages comparing and contrasting socialization and brainwashing just because it was fun and interesting…
The next class, my prof. was waiting for me at the door with the paper. She said, “This was so good, I cried after I read it.” She’s too funny—good teacher and a really nice girl. (If she was grading this post, she’d mark off 2 pts. for calling her a girl, symbolically sexist language, you know.) _________________ Come on monsters, you don't have to cry... we can be HAPPY !!!

I've been a bully-magnet my whole life. Which made me particularly vulnerable to being told (by everyone, including both my parents) that it's all my fault and I bring it on myself. Even now that I know about Asperger's and understand intellectually what the deal is, viscerally I still feel guilty and culpable when I get bullied. _________________ "In the end, we decide if we're remembered for what happened to us or for what we did with it."

A&P Lab: a 68 which wasnt that bad, it was a 50-blank test. I got a 65 on the first.
A&P Lecture: dont know yet, but the last question was: All or none. None of the answers made sense...
I had an okay history test this morning. And I have an algebra test that doesnt sound good this afternoon.
French toast! I really dislike college right now. _________________ I'm not crazy, err, not yet. I'm just on the wrong planet!

In an hour, I have an oral exam in Spanish (we have to take the role of patient and doctor and describe symptoms and make recommendations using formal commands.) No idea how I'm going to do on it. _________________ "In the end, we decide if we're remembered for what happened to us or for what we did with it."

Yeah, I knew that history test was gonna be tough... I was 3 points off setting the A, but the professor marked me 5 points down on an essay question for no apparent reason!
I was robbed!!!
...but I still lead the class in total points!
Now comes the long grind to finals!!! _________________ Come on monsters, you don't have to cry... we can be HAPPY !!!
