Most people seem to have joined it.
Is it a decent way of socializing with new people?

| It's pretty good. I've been on it for the last few weeks. It takes a while to get used to everything and there is more than meets the eye to it but you can find people on there. I found a number of people on there that I haven't spoken to in months! |

It's a pain in the butt. Cool at first, then uncomfortable and way too close to being in high school again. _________________ Envy, is admiration in denial. --DaWalker

I think it's great, actually. I can talk with people I know (or have known) without actually having to talk to them. You have time to come up with what you want to say and it's pretty casual. Just my opinion, though. _________________ "I don't get the facts wrong! It's everything else I screw up!"

I go on there, but not on a regular basis. _________________ Sometimes I feel very sorry for the Coyote. Sometimes I wish he'd catch him.

Facebook is a great place to go to keep in touch with family and friends who no longer live near you.
My niece recently graduated high school and now attends the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and wow, does she have so
many friends on Facebook! |

Facebook is great for staying in touch with family and existing friends but for meeting new people, I've found _________________ "C'mon John, kill her and we can have pizza, and margarita shooters!"

I've been on it since 2006, hated every single design change, minor or major. Leave it alone!
but other than that, it's sort of neat being able to upload pictures and let your friends see them.
And comment, which they don't on mine for some reason.
I've found I have had to make drastic out of nowhere status updates to get at least one person to comment.
Sort of annoying. _________________ (\_/)

I'd say a good rule of thumb for Facebook is don't friend anybody you haven't met in real life (unless it's one of those fake celebrity pages).
Facebook is the ape equivalent of grooming - it doesn't serve an obvious purpose, but if you think about it it's a way for people to maintain and strengthen relationships even if it's just through the sharing of a funny video or status update. We Aspies can forget how important it is to NTs. It can mean a lot to somebody if you just comment "wow that's cool" on something they posted. |

Yeah same with me, on Facebook. I feel like a failure and on pressure out of that while others can say stupid stuff and get loads of comments
so Im extremely spare to say anything at all because of it

THANK YOU for those words!! I guess thats the Key to why I dont understand or feel comfortable on Facebook. I went there to have some contact with my relatives but I got a weird feeling Im not important among them and they dont care what I say. Its because they know each other better SINCE BEFORE, and I have always been an unsocial freak _________________ I am female and 35, these are My words: *be yourself and try your best*

That's a brilliant way of putting it.
To me it seems very helpful to Aspies, in that it helps you do the connecting without the more exhausting aspects. |

I've been on it a few months. At first I only friended people I know in real life and used it for keeping updated, which is why they kept nagging me to join facebook in the first place.
Now that I've joined, we comment on each others status, pictures, etc. Then I started thinking, I've easily met more compatible and interesting folks online - forums, games etc. before. I just wasn't used to sharing real names and contact information. Then I figured out how to make lists of friends in facebook, and choose who I share contact information with.
There's quite a few Aspie groups on facebook, but whatever you post in them is public and since its my real name, I won't be joining them. |

| I think Facebook is really helpful. I have only started using it recently, but so far its made it a little easier to communicate with some old classmates and friends by just dropping a comment in here and there with status updates. It hurts sometimes though. Just as any other social site I am on. I try and talk to people and some just ignore me and never speak to me. |
