I prefer the more alternative stuff, like P.O.S., Aesop Rock, El-P etc. I also quite like that Dizzee Rascal fellow.

I'm also a fan of M.I.A., but as i've mentioned to various people, she is not a rapper. Her genre is probably best described as "experimental" or the generic "alternative".

Hmm...nothing yet Sad.

I have to agree with you on the mid to late 90's stuff. My favorites - Mobb Deep (Infamous, Hell On Earth, Murda Muzik). After that, I liked Method Man Tical 2000 a lot, Gravediggaz fist release, Cypress Hill - Temples of Boom and IV, I can get into some Naz, there might be more out there that I've missed but I think you get my drift - I like gangsta but it has to have some depth and art to it. Dre and Snoop are slick, I can't and wouldn't diss em, for whatever reason though the west coast sound never really grabbed me as much as NYC. Something else I never got around to but know I need to - Belly soundtrack, lots of good oldschool.

As for after 2000 - I liked some of TI's stuff, Young Buck's Cashville had some good beats, I have a friend who's real big on D Block - Sheek Louch isn't half bad IMO.

I have to agree on nerdcore and alternative rap though - I don't disrespect people for liking it, just that it seems like its missing something essential, like icing without a cake.

You already know how I feel about rap, so in respect for all of you, I'm not going to say anything, other than what I just said.

I'm a rocker at heart, but a few rap groups are just plain awesome, especially the Beastie Boys. Some of the earlier rap music just has that fun and playfulness to it that more modern rap doesn't. I also love rap rock like Rage Against the Machine, Linkin Park, and Street Sweeper Social Club. (Check out SSSC if you've never heard of them.)

Ahh come on, it's easy enough to ignore if you don't like it. By the way, I was wearing my Morbid Tales longsleeve yesterday. Love that album.

As for rap, I like Atmosphere, Immortal Technique, Eminem, Dre, some Snoop Dogg and others.
