I agree that the letter of recommendation written on the actions of some people of faith is sometimes not a very good recommendation to the faith values they hold.
But I think that neither the consistency nor the inconsistency of the rationality in people of faith has anything to do with the rationality of the belief itself.
And I also don't believe that atheists, agnostics, evolutionists, creationists or anyone who follows a particular belief system are above being inconsistent at times, or above being reproved for that inconsistency.
Sometimes it seems difficult to find two persons who share the same worldview being on the same page. And at times the very person who seems consistent on one thing will at times seem inconsistent on another thing, usually depending on the subject matter. _________________ Stung by the splendor of a sudden thought. ~ Robert Browning

This is part of why I think you CAN say christians are morons.
Not because they think there's a god, but because they think there is this maniacal god of the bible.... and love him.
If it was proof conclusively that the god of the bible existed I still wouldn't bow down to the creepy old man. |

| Agreed with the above person. The god of the bible is not the sort of god I would worship. I wouldn't worship a god anyway, if you're a god why would you need people to worship you? |

So if in the UK people cannot be religious. |
Its just that you grow to hate it because it is the main focus of primary school.
You have to pray in assemblies.
You have to sing hymns in assemblies.
You have to act out being a christian in christian ceremonies.
You have to pray before you are allowed to eat lunch.
You are only allowed to study christian themed music in music class.
You get in trouble if you say you aren't a christian, my sister got taken aside by her teacher and told she was evil for not believing in god and she is 10.
You get praise for saying you believe in jesus.
NO other viewpoints are given.
etc.
This is the same across the 4 primary schools I know of. Ironically, the one of these that is actually a catholic school is the least transparently a christian indoctrination tool.
To give some idea of the dogmatic mindset, my sister got in trouble because she said pluto was a dwarf planet and not a major planet. When she proved it she got in MORE trouble for correcting the teacher and "making [her] feel stupid.". |
