I just got the Windows 7 Home Premieum Family Upgrade Pack.I Currently have Windows vista home premium 64-bit would it be possible to upgrade to window 7 32-bit because it came with both disks.I have software and games that I purchased that if I did 64-bit I would be worried about compatibilty problems and I do not have another os to use a virtual machine. The least the could of done is include the 16-bit emulator that comes with 32-bit has an extra for those that want it. _________________ When will they learn, all Humans are equaly inferior to robots-Bender

I'm trying to follow you at this late hour.
If you are going to upgrade from one 64-bit platform to another 64-bit platform, Win7 has on the Professional and higher versions a VM that lets you install a 32-bit XP virtual OS, but your CPU/MB must be able to run a virtual environment. |

I recommend you go for the 64 bit version of windwos 7 as it performs better plus it can take more advatage of powerfull hardware. This I recommend as there will come a time when you will need to upgrade. All of the games that worked on the 64 bit OS should work on the 32 Bit OS unless it specifies on the specs other wide E.G Windows Vista (32 Bit not supported) .
Hope this helps.
(I dont think you can emulate "Bits" as its a hardware thing) |

| It depends where your games are installed and where THEY keep save games. I would copy pretty much nearly everything in "Program Files(x86)" and "Program Files" to be sure. And also make a copy of "My Documents" or whatever it is in Vista to a safe location and recover the games and saves from it after performing a reinstall. |

If you are upgrading your OS, you "should not" lose any files in the process.
However, to be safe, I know you can back up your save games before you upgrade...just in case.
Frankly, I think Microsoft suggests backing up your personal files just as a precaution. |

In summary:
1. You can't upgrade 64-bit Vista to 32-bit Windows 7.
The only way to switch to 32-bit is to clean install.
2. Windows 7 Professional/Enterprise/Ultimate has a feature called "XP Mode".
It's basically a licensed copy of XP running inside VirtualPC and it doesn't support 3D. So if it's games that you are thinking, then it's unlikely to help. Besides, it's not supported by Home Premuim. You'll have to upgrade to Professional/Ultimate to use it.
3. Games that run fine on 64-bit Vista will almost certainly run fine under 64-bit Windows 7.
So unless there's some games that you can't run now, there's no point going back to 32-bit.
4. If you upgrade from 64-bit Vista to 64-bit Windows 7, your save files should be safe.
Just in case something bad happens, you may still want to back them up though.
Morrowind stores its save files in "\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind\Saves".
If you have UAC enabled, Vista will redirect it to "\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\..."
Oblivion stores its save files in "Documents\My Games\Oblivion" (ie "\users\<username>\Documents\...").
Not sure about the other games you mentioned. |

| Don't have any experience with AGI interpreter. Have you tried ScummVM? It seems to be quite popular. |
