The first of the two part finale is on this week in the US, followed by the second part on the week after that, and then.....no more new Monk EVER!!
Monk will finally solve his wife's murder as well.
Any theories or comments? |

That show's been on for waaaay too long (at least by today's tv standards )
But I'm definitly glad their gonna end it with him solving his wife's murder. I hate it when TV dramas give you a background mystery like that and the show gets cancelled without any true closure to that aspect. |

I watched it for a time, then I lost interest in it.
The whole premise is very interesting. _________________ "I am not a crook!"

| I just keep thinking in my mind who could be Trudy's murderer!!! I've actually come to think it may have been the captain or Randy. I'm so glad we'll finally be able to see who it is. |

I've got very mixed feelings about that show. I'm glad it's ending because I long since stopped watching. It was too uncomfortable. The entire premise sets the stage for one long, awkward situation of a series, and I am not at all sure I think OCD is a good topic for comedy. At the same time, I do have favorite episodes and I am glad they are ending it with Trudy's murder solved, it makes sense. It leaves open the chance for him to finally move on with his life without wrapping up everything all at once in a hard to believe fashion. _________________ "Pack up my head, I'm goin' to Paris!" - P.W.

My only friend absolutely HATES Monk. Every time a commercial comes on for it it produces such an irrational anger in her. It's funny but also concerning because I have many OCDish traits, might even have it, and her fiancee has it.....
I think the advertising for the show is really really good. For me, when I see a commercial for it, I laugh, and instantly recognize the traits in myself, but it never makes me feel bad. The phrase that always repeats in my head when I see them is "Ohhh, I totally get that," in a fond sort of way.
Sadly, I have trouble sitting through a full episode, especially since Sharona left. The episodes themselves would be a little to cringey personally, and then the new girl came and I don't like her...or change. |

I agree that the way they use OCD on this show is a little iffy. Monk's traits have been more inline with Asperger's than OCD if you really think about it. Plus OCD is such a bland condition. Most people who have it arent gonna make it as obvious as Monk makes it plus not every one with OCD has a million different things to be compulsive over. It makes me question how much research the writers put into learning about OCDs when creating this show. |

It's typical of TV though, isn't it? They wanted to have a really over-the-top eccentric detective, and if they had just made him a mass of neuroses no one would believe it, so they chose a real disorder to give it validity. Used to be they could just find some odd trait and stamp it on their character, but now everything has a name or diagnosis so they had to choose one. Then they just went with it.
That's my theory, anyway. _________________ "Pack up my head, I'm goin' to Paris!" - P.W.

The final episode is on this coming Friday 4th.
I lost interest in the show around season 5, but I promised myself I'd keep track of it and check back every now and then to see how any long running stories are going. When I was a big fan, Monk solving his wifes murder was one of the moments I was [and still am] excited to see, and now it's finally here! It'll probably be an anti-climax but oh well. |

Believe it or not I never really watched the show until this season. I kind of got into it. I liked the series finale, I thought it was really good and I'm glad he finally solved his wife's murder.
My parents watched this series from beginning to the end. |
