I just had a friend send me a link to a facebook app that ended up showing me a pick of a clown  that had flashing colored lights on it... :x (I just put a memo on my page NOT to do that again...) Anyways, I've had this problem sporadically w/ pictures, camera flashes & video games (why I almost never play them & can only watch games w/ certain types of graphics (FFX, Kingdom Hearts, & Croc, Spryo, etc./ all my bro's games) for as long as I can remember:

1. eye twinges
2. massive headaches (few sec's- days in worst episodes)
3. nausea for a few minutes

I'm wondering if this could a be a sign of something more serious (in general its just annoying)? This just an aspie/autie thing? But I'm confused b/c facebook app's (like farmville, castle age, etc.) & stuff in general don't cause me any issues...

I know there's a member here who has posted about the same problem. In her time zone, she is probably asleep though.

Look into Irlens syndrome. I think I may have that. I am a wreck around strobe lights but I don't have seizures. They just hurt my head and can make me feel ill, to the point of throwing up.
With Irlens syndrome you have a hypersensitivity to light, dyslexic-like symptoms, and other stresses in life.
Look it up.

Symptoms of Irlen Syndrome
Light Sensitivity:

Bothered by glare, fluorescent lights, bright lights, sunlight and sometimes lights at night
Some individuals experience physical symptoms and feel tired, sleepy, dizzy, anxious, or irritable. Others experience headaches, mood changes, restlessness or have difficulty staying focused, especially with bright or fluorescent lights.

I also wonder if there is a weak form of epilepsy in people with AS. Someone (with epilepsy) explained to me what strobe lights did to her (made her freak out then fall asleep). It sounds to me like a shutdown, but I don't fall asleep. I know that severe shutdowns result in sleep though.

It is possible that it is an autism thing. Some autistics are light sensitive, so bright/flashing lights can cause these problems. However, it can also be a sign of things like migraine. If you've recently started having this problem, maybe you could see your doctor.

Flashing lights bother me to no end. I find that I can't stop blinking my eyes for a couple of minutes after such exposure.

I discovered one night when the neighbours invited us to light fireworks with them that flashing lights make me dizzy and pass out. There was this flashing one that stayed on the ground, I can't remember what it was called but the next thing I remember is that I was on the ground and people were saying "Are you ok?".

I don't tend to have issues with strobes if my eyes are adjusted to light, however, if my eyes are adjusted to darkness, strobes are very painful and disorentating to me. Then again, even sudden changes from dark to light can be quite painful and a little disorientationg.

Strobe lights really bother me. I get a headache, stomach ache and can even wind up curled up on the ground after only a few seconds. Any rapidly blinking light can have the same effect, but usually to a lesser degree.

I have a high sensitivity to bright lights. The worst thing for me is when i'm driving at night and all the cars that are oncoming to me have their lights on. Extreme pain! I have to slow right down when that happens. Don't want to have an accident after all. I also hate getting my eyes tested. The lights they use really hurt!
I have no problem when it comes to gaming though. I do a lot of gaming. But on this show i watch called: GoodGame. They did a report on certain people with games who react in a similar way to you.
If i can dig it up i'll post the link.
Just a sec.....
http://www.abc.net.au/tv/goodgame/video ... 30&story=7
That is a link to a direct video by them about VSS (Virtual Simulator Sickness)
I don't know if it will help explain what your going through but it might give you some insight!
