Every now and then, after I say or do something AS, my Mom laughs hysterically and says I'm like Rainman. I have the movie, should I consider watching it? I'm not insulted by people laughing at me, I'm just never sure why. Some thing I say, I guess.

What kind of "Rainman things" do you remember doing, or
were told you were doing? Where in the autistic disorder spectrum
do you dwell?

Yeah, it is a good movie, although it's about someone who lives in an institution, so that's someone fairly unsophisticated. I don't normally like Tom Cruise, but it's probably his best role, and Dustin Hoffman is a pretty good actor.

I'm not sure what kind of things I do. But when she picks me up from work, I'll sometimes tell her what went on, what happened, etc. And what I did in these situations seems to occasionally remind her of Rainman. I have AS. I also have OCD and ADD. I like to think I'm the farthest from NT I could possibly be.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder:
If I find somethnig I enjoy a lot, I'll do it repeatedly to an unhealthy extent. Normally applies to eating. Hard to control urge not to eat without stopping. Used to wash hands until they bleed. Etc.

I always liked the movie even WAY before I was diagnosed. I was not to thrilled howeverr when a security lady at school called me "Rainman" and was kind of unhappy about that.

I liked the movie. Some parts are not exactly right about autistic people. But it's very realistic.

Rainman is a composite character, built from the traits of several real-life people, mainly Kim Peek, who IMO is the most incredible person living today due to his math skills and infallable memory.

I liked the movie BTW, dustin hoffmans best role ever.
