Back towards the beginning of this thread, I asked what the definition of a Christian is. A answer was given with the caveat, the rest is doctrinal and we may not agree on every point of it.

Now when a Mormon replies I am a christian, they get the response:

Quote:
Most people wouldn't believe that someone is a Christian who thinks Joseph Smith is going to sit at the side of God the Father, and judge the living and the dead,etc..

But wait according to the definition of Christian that was earlier given, mormons meet the definition. (I'm not a mormon and I am not familiar with the LDS. I live in the heart of RLDS country, which is another sect of mormonism.)

Either you need to change the definition of Christian earlier given or you need to accept mormons as christian. The thread is contradicting itself. I am not stating my opinion either way just pointing out the contradiction.

Oh yeah. 1 Cor6:2 "do you not know that the saints will judge the world.. do you not know that we shall judge angels." So I don't find the concept of a man sitting by God judging the world to be to off track.

One day, I looked around at the world and pondered all the murder and cruelty in it.

Got convinced that God was not to blame for this. And this particular verse started to really bother me:

Isaiah 48:9

“For my name's sake I defer my anger,

for the sake of my praise I restrain it for you,

that I may not cut you off.

I take this to mean that we are on a countdown to getting judged.

The Christian gospels state that Jesus offered his life to save ours -- saving us from the judgment against sin, making reconciliation on our behalf and restoring us back to a personal spiritual relationship with God, the Father.

I'm willing to believe in a blameless, just and sacrifically-loving God. That's who Jesus claims to be... that he suffered and died, and rose again, in order to prove his love to mankind. To prove that he and the Father are one. I'm willing to accept and surrender my heart to that.

Repentance and Spiritual Rebirth:
Jesus promises to indwell the heart and soul of those who call upon him as Lord.

I am Catholic, but am very self-conscious about it.

The term "Catholic" does seem to have connotations of negativity...
