I have a Kodak EasyShare C6132 digital camera, and all of a sudden, the USB cord that came with it will not fit into the camera. Could something be stuck in the cord, or is it more likely the camera that has a problem?

Thanks!

I'd say something misshaped the plug on the cord or something is lodged in the USB port on the camera. Something like what you describe should not happen.

Those types of cords are very common. Got another one lying around you can try to see if it's the cord or the camera?

Problem with the above poster, is that he did not realize it was kodak. all of their cords are proprietary and not the normal six pin mini to usb. If all that cable is used for is to retrieve your pictures, then you may have to buy a memory card reader. I run into this problem on a daily basis at my work and have never had an angry customer afterwards.

Is it better for me to just buy a USB card reader then? Will I loose any functionality? I guess there's something called PC cam mode, but to be honest, I don't think I've ever used it.

The PC Cam mode likely allows you to use the camera as a webcam, but since you don't use it, that's not a problem.
I normally prefer to use a card reader rather than connecting the camera directly. Not only is it normally faster, but it also conserves battery life in the camera.

The only downside is if your camera has internal memory (many of the Koday Easyshare cameras do, but Googling your model number doesn't yield any information), but even then, you can copy images from internal memory to the memory card on the camera and then offload them that way.

Buying a USB card reader won't cause you to loose any functionality. You will have to set your camera's default storage to memory card and you will have to manually take the card out of the camera and put it into your USB card reader, however, but download performance or memory fidelity won't be compromised. As for PC cam mode, all that is is an option to use your camera as a web cam, but you can't do that if you lost your cable. Check if your camera has Bluetooth. Some higher-end cameras have Bluetooth so that you can transfer pictures wirelessly.

I was browsing through some old emails, and I found the one telling me this thread was updated. I never got the chance to say thank you, so I am doing so now. Thanks for the advice!
