We ate a restaurant last night and my mother got food poisoning. She at a hamburger that was medium done.

If she got food poisoning, did they definitely do something wrong?

She split the hamburger with her sister, but she did not get sick.

If you're sure it was that restaurant that caused it, sue them, or complain to your food standards agency or something.

Nope, no food poisoning there. If you complained to the restaurant and then stated that the burger was split with someone who didn't get sick, all they would do is see you out, then you'd hear the laughing.

Food poisoning can be caused by a lot of different things and may not be caused by the first suspect. When I am really fatigued I can get sick by random causes and eating a burger might be one of them. When everybody got sick it could be a cause, but to proof it you need more then one case.

You have to be sure that the restaurant was the cause. Food poisoning can take between 12 hours and 7 days for symptoms appear.

Note to Brits: If you get food poisoning after eating in an Indian restaurant, do NOT report them or attempt to tell them what happened, they just automatically assume that you are a racist!

An environmental health officer doesn't give a shite if they play the race card.

I don't know.

In my case I already have a sensitive stomach so certain things will make me sick but not others, so I wouldn't know for sure whether it was the food or just me.

I'd say if you had to go to a doctor or hospital after eating there then definitly let them know, other wise it's up to you.
