I'm just posting this as I've wondered if anyone else here has ever met or known what I call an 'as*hole Aspie'?

I'm sad to say that I've known a few!! !! !

Sure it's true that you'll find as*holes anywhere you go, but in the case of 'as*hole Aspies' this can become a problem as they (or there staff/parents as many of them will have them) will just say "He/she has issues of his/her own!" (i.e. "This person has AS so they can do whatever they wish")

There are many on the net that I have read about ('Chrischan' is one that springs to mind at the moment) and I've known a far few in person, of whom I'd go and make their lives hell in order to teach them a lesson!

Sometimes it worked, other times I'd just get them into bother with police so that their staff would not be able to defend them.

I'm not having a go at anyone (unless they are as*holes themselves) but I'm sure that many of you have met such people...

Goodbye Till Next Time

I think the whole "using your condition" issue happens with every condition.
I once knew an absolute witch (not the wiccan kind) who had ADHD. She was a lying, manipulative, two-faced waste of breath who caused trouble wherever she went. Of course, whenever she was called out on it, she would blame ADHD. And this was an adult, btw. I have not seen her in +10 years, and she remains my least favorite person on earth.

Everyone has the potential to be an A-hole or not, whatever their conditions.

Agreed. Ive had plenty of moments both on here or in real life that I know I have come across as one. Usually happens if I am being blunt as hell with no regards to emotions. Really, id just rather say it because most of the time I just feel emotions don't really matter to me anyways. So be it if someone hates me over it, I hate plenty of people myself. Not that I really care anyways, everyone has the right to hate people, or things.

I hate it when people use their AS as an excuse for their behavior. I know some that do that now. It's like, come on, we're all adults now so can't we be accountable for ourselves? D:

Now, I know that I can be a royal b***h sometimes but I never blame it on my AS. I apologize to the people I've offended when I've calmed down and take responsibility for what I said/did.

I don't make excuses for my behavior, AS or anything else. When I am offensive and spiteful it is because I willfully acted that way as warrented. I am for the most part without emotion, including malice or spite but have a logical view of the world. There are situations where the only effective communication is being spiteful and malicious as this is all some people respond to. I would not intentionally act in this manner otherwise.

I know one or two.

I HATE those. I've been struggling with my ADD to be at least partly functional in everyday things.
I keep FORGETTING them, and never remember to take a shower & shave & brush my teeth & check my Email & do all of my homework & take my Ritalin & rechare my cellphone & take my dog on a walk.
I forget to do about 3/4 of these everyday.

So how do they DARE to use it as an excuse?!

yes. came across a couple on WP.

bluntness doesn't bother me as long as a person makes it clear that he/she is expressing an opinion, and not trying to express something as fact. i.e....

OPINION post: "i don't personally like the way green shirts look on girls"
as*hole post: "girls in green shirts are ugly"

i also really don't like when people will not take responsibility for themselves. aspie or not, people need to take responsibility for their own words and actions. no excuses.

I sure do. You will find them all on I2

I also knew an aspie in real life who was a lying manipulative SOB. He was also a bully but he happened to have ODD.

I also know an aspie online from Texas who is a pervert and he goes asking for inappropriate things from other aspie adults and under age. He also uses guilt trips to get his way and plays the victim when he gets exposed and leaves the forum. Lot of aspies say he is a pedophile but as far as I know he has asked kids young as 14 for inappropriate photos or asking them to do something sexual for him. He says he will stop and the he goes on doing it again. Now he says he has stopped again but I don't buy it. No I don't even speak to him. I just hear about him from other aspie victims or from aspies who were his victim.

I admit I am one at times. Some people just piss me off so I turn into one. But I never blame it on my AS.

Oh yeah I had seen some here too.

Aspies are people. A fair number of people are a*******. If an a****** can make an excuse for themselves, they will.

So in that sense, you're certainly right. There are bound to be aspies who are jerks, and who use the excuse of their diagnosis to justify being jerks.

But I don't think that there is anything about being an aspie that makes anyone more likely to become a jerk, and I don't think every explanation that involves AS is just hiding behind an excuse. To me, I'd look at the individual situation. I really don't always understand what upsets other people. If I honestly don't understand, I'm not being a jerk. (That said, I've been a jerk at times, and meant to. I think everyone is a jerk, at some times, even if they aren't so much so that the term defines them.) So if I know I haven't always been able to get things right, I can't expect anyone else to always do it.

Aspie or not, I think all you can do is do your best not to be a jerk, try to give other people the same breaks you expect yourself - and avoid the real jerks who just don't care about anything other than doing whatever they want.

I had a class with an as*hole aspie back in high school. It was a study period with my IEP case manager, so I'd have time at school to get my class- and homework done before I went home and completely forgot about or ignored it. Unfortunately, I had to share that study time with that as*hole. The guy was just ornery all the time, talking constantly, making stupid comments and even stupider jokes, and just generally being an obnoxious dick, even to the teacher sometimes.

Needless to say, I was not friends with that guy. I was, however, friends with several other quieter, more cooperative, more polite AS students there.

I've had the misfortune of knowing a few of those types, here as a matter of fact.

This reminds me of a youtube video called Asperger's Jack and he was a jerk in it. He disrespected his mother badly. Cursing at her for one.

I was pretty bad in my teens in high school for a bit.
