I was about to say 'no' but I do agree.
Leave it to science.
I know I have autism and what caused it for me and I'm just trying to cope with it and lead a good life.

So true. I got autism from the Martian lizard people that spawned the British royal family and the Bush family.

I heard it's caused by dihydrogen monoxide. The FDA disagrees but they're just dupes of the DHM monopoly. I think all DHM should banned immediately. Won't someone please think of the children?

Oh, and Teletubbies cause it, too (or does that make people gay? Oh well, close enough.)

This is actually true. One of my mother's favorite anecdotes about me at kindergarten age involves me uttering the words "When I was a cat..."

yeah thats what i was thinking, it seems that we as people on the spectrum like to speculate about practically everyone, oh are they aspie. Some celebrities that are clearly not aspie, people are like are they aspie and im thinking are u kidding me. Like Lady Gaga. I admit to being guilty of some far fetched speculations myself.

And then theres these ridiculous news stories that link the cause of autism to something really far fetched and stupid

<sarcasm>I understand it fully, autism rays come from the sun and make people's AQ index go up. The chances are it is linked to sunspot activity</sarcasm>

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.

My mad science causes autism.

I've built 100 story autism broadcasting towers at each pole and have bombarded the Earth with autism rays for generations.

The entire cast of Coronation street have AS... It's caused by mad sciency stuff involving alien goo and lots of head banging. Oh you know who else has AS? Everyone!

Joking :) Those threads are getting a little weary though aren't they!

So... Now we should argue about who doesn't have autism, and what doesn't cause it?
