Do most people's eyes look "dead/empty" to anybody
I have often thought that most people in the World look like they have "dead" eyes, as if there is no one looking out of them... Does anybody else see this too? Could this be part of being as aspie? (not being able to read emotion through the eyes or something?) Or is there really just nobody home? lol
I also see the occasional person who looks as though there is "somebody home" and that they are actually present in their eyes, but they are few and far between...

Yep. I have a blank stare. I actually can notice it in others too but I can see what I call a 'brightness' in other peoples eyes. These are the people without a blank stare but with a lot of warmness to their eyes. You can tell a lot about emotions when you look at peoples eyes...if you can read eyes that is.

I work with dead people and I am happy to say that I have never seen a living person with dead person's eyes, save possibly for those with glaucoma or other visual impairment.
Snottiness aside, I often find an anxiety/rush/light/glow/fever/whatever to other people's eyes. I love looking people in the eyes but seem to do it for too long, stare them down, lose concentration and then train of thought is derailed soon after.. so I tend to avoid much eye contact.

It may be related, but when I was younger, I thought that other people seized to exist when they where not in the same room as me. Like they didn't have a life on their own if I'm not there to witness their actions! It took me a lot of time to accept this fact! It might even be the reason I cried or had an empty feeling after the holidays or after seeing many people in a short period of time, when they "leave my life".
I think that their's more to eyes than we know! Okay we have receptors that take different energy level and decode this into color. Maybe we also have somekind of transmitter. Something we just can't control. I had a theory that say autistic people are more sensible to this "transmission" and could be the reason we don't look at other people eyes.
Things related to telepathy or eye reading could also come from this. Don't you get sometime the feeling you're invaded when another person stare at you? Or that you could talk to someone just by looking at them?

I feel as if I have already had a meaningful conversation with some people when I look in their eyes, or like they can read my thoughts. In psychiatry this is a symptom of schizophrenia. It's probably more just a sign of the psychic/energetic/spiritual connection between people.. In a sense we have had a conversation with our eyes, but still it is detrimental to well-rounded communication because people still do not know all of what I am thinking just the part I'm sending off energetically.
We are all emitting energy fields all the time.. humans have a magnetic field and are essentially made up of energy. So if our consciousness is not just in body but in the 'field' too then communication could exist in the field as an exchange of energies. This could be like the verbal, friendly rapport that people establish with one another. Maybe since I am not so good with rapport, I am feeling the other fields that exist even if they contradict the rapport.. for example, people that give off a positive attitude but just seem kind of cold.. people from whom I detect warmth even though they are sarcastic, etc. etc.

@eudaimonia: Interesting, I see it with a more scientifical approach than a spiritual. But what you call spiritual could only be a new set of physical laws! I read a lot on quantum physics and took some class in cerebral signal processing. Also worked as internship 8 months in an hospital in the fundamental research department and had access to MRI room. Even though the technology is impressive, we are on the early beginning to understand what's up with our brain.
Although this post is probably going to get torn to shreds, I still feel the need to state my feelings on the matter.
People with "dead" eyes really are "dead" on the inside because they don't have the Holy Spirit inside them. They have rejected God so their soul is empty. I've noticed it in family members who have cruel personalities and I've noticed it in the teenagers who bullied me in junior high (especially one girl who threatened to beat me up).
On the other hand, the people with "bright" eyes are the ones who have the Holy Spirit inside them. It's not for nothing that God refers to Himself in the Bible as "the Light". I have seen this light shining most prominently in my parents' eyes. They are the best examples of Christians I have ever seen, so this really doesn't surprise me.

I think there's more to it than that, I've known a number of people who were passionate about Christ and definitely had that "spark" in their eyes... of course, I've also known people who were passionate about other things and were atheist, Hated God, or who simply didn't care of He exists or not, and they too had "life" in their eyes. So, I don't know if being a Christian alone is what cause's it, or if it's about being passionate about something....
By the way, I'm a Christian, and usually have a expressionless eyes, if I get fired up about something they'll light up sometimes. but, for the most part, they're blank. So, for my sake, I hope there's more to it than your explanation.
Oddly enough when I was young I didn't look at people's eyes because they were just as kind of blank to me as if I were staring at their nose, but now I think it's the opposite. Now when I try to look into someone's eyes it's like there's too much info. there for my brain to comprehend and it starts to overload so I have to look away. I actually do pretty well reading facial expressions if you show me pictures. I think I have learned so much in time that I have an enormous "file" my brain goes through looking for matches like computer facial recognition software does, but when the picture keeps moving and changing it's too much to process.

>>> I am a Christian, and my eyes are as black as death, very lifeless opaque.
On a side note I find when I am taking care of my health, excercising, that I can see clear Iris, like a greenish circle around it, and they seem more "alive". Perhaps excercise has something to do with it. Like you're attentive, awake, intense. I'm Chinese so I have blackish eyes. That in a animalistic fight of flight way the eye is stimulated or something. Maybe to attack some animal/monster/danger (ie driving and not hitting a deer or rocks or another car).
a pseudoscience Irielogly tests the the condition of your eyes, to determine the status of one's health. I find that my eyes are dull like a cartoon (where you just draw two black dots. Ie Selma from Scooby doo, Kim Pine), and after taking care of the health, they seem to have this shiny glaze like material glass like material on the surface.
